UFC 137 Results: Where Does Donald Cerrone Rank in the Lightweight Division?

G DOct 29, 2011

Donald Cerrone entered UFC 137 as one of the most underrated fighters in mixed martial arts today.

When the action began, Cerrone circled the Octagon with his opponent Dennis Siver as the UFC world sat and watched the "Cowboy" put on a show for the ages.

Cerrone, also one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC today, attacked Siver, landing vicious head kicks early and often.

After a huge head kick, Siver fell back as it appeared he was on his way to being knocked out.

But, after recollecting himself, Siver remained in the contest, only for Cerrone to knock him down once more.

This time, Cerrone captured his back and connected a rear naked choke at just 2:22 of the very first round.

Cerrone not only proved he was the better fighter, but a legitimate contender in the Lightweight division.

To date, Cerrone has won six consecutive fights and hasn't lost since April 2010.

After another dominating performance, Cerrone deserves to be considered as an upper-echelon fighter in the 155-lb. weight class.

Cerrone is quickly climbing up the Lightweight rankings, standing behind fighters in Frankie Edgar, Gray Maynard, Clay Guida and Ben Henderson.

After his impressive win at UFC 137, some may even consider Cerrone ahead of the highly dangerous striker, Melvin Guillard.

One thing's for sure, Cerrone should never have to fight in a pay-per-view preliminary bout again.

Donald Cerrone is now a legitimate contender and could very easily be considered a top 5 fighter in the Lightweight division.
