Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
What players are going where? Well, give a read below to the hottest rumors.
David Ortiz Heading to the Toronto Blue Jays?
According to the Boston Herald, “Coming off an 81-81 season and with money to spend, the Jays “will not rule out” making a serious push for Ortiz, a major league source said yesterday. In fact, he could conceivably be a good fit north of the border.”
The question when it comes to this is, why would the Blue Jays spend money on an aging power hitter, when they already have a big bat in their lineup in Jose Bautista?
The answer is, “Big Papi” can provide a security for Bautista in the Blue Jays lineup, while being able to hold onto his role as a designated hitter. Even though he is aging, Ortiz proved last year that he still can put up good numbers.
Is CC Sabathia Going To Leave the Yankees for the Sox?
According to New York Daily News, "For now, the Yankees say they aren’t thinking about it, although GM Brian Cashman Tuesday acknowledged that the free-agent period can take unusual twists and turns. Last winter, for instance, many observers believed free agent Cliff Lee would take a bushel of Yankee dollars, but he ended up in Philadelphia."
“They have a player who went down with an injury, it’s unfortunate,” Cashman said of the Red Sox. “What the ripple effect is, I have no idea.”
The question is, where will the Red Sox find money to sign Sabathia, if he opts out?
The answer is, by shedding contracts of Ortiz and Papelbon, both of whom are free agents this year. Making a play not to re-sign those two big contract players should free up the money, if the Sox make a strong play for the Yankees ace.
Will the Rangers' C.J. Wilson Play in Los Angeles Next Year?
ESPN Los Angeles’ Jim Bowden asked Wilson if he has interest in playing for the Dodgers or Angles next year.
Wilson replied with, “I grew up hanging out in Manhattan Beach and love L.A. and Southern California. In fact, I've rented a home near Benedict Canyon in Los Angeles for this offseason. I didn't want to buy, obviously, because I don't know where I'm going to be playing next year. However, I'm planning on going into free agency with an open mind and listening to every club that has interest in me. I just don't want to talk about specific teams right now.”
The question is, will the Rangers’ ace leave for his hometown, with a big contract?
The answer is, if he does it will be for the Angels, not the Dodgers. Wilson is a smart guy and knows that no matter what offer is thrown to him, it will be more money than he’s ever dreamed about.
That’s all the rumors for now, keep your eyes and ears open to the MLB Hot Stove, as once this World Series is over, it will heat up quickly.
