NFL Week 8 Picks: Ravens, Chargers and Division Leaders on Upset Alert

Patrick ClarkeOct 27, 2011

NFL teams on the top are always under the most pressure, despite what you may believe.

The Ravens and Chargers, both division leaders, had disappointing performances on the road in Week 7 against inferior opposition. As a result, they now find themselves being questioned.

Life at the top is never as easy as it looks. In Week 8, there are several contending squads on upset alert.

Here are three division leaders facing the potential of being upset in Week 8:

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens were a dud on Monday Night Football at Jacksonville in Week 7, going scoreless for more than three quarters and losing 12-7 to a then one-win Jaguars team.

The loss left Baltimore in a tie atop the AFC North and raised some serious questions about the team's offense.

The Ravens host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8, who have enough offensive weaponry at their disposal to pull off a shocker on the road.

The Baltimore D will come to play, that's for sure, but will the offense?

Houston Texans

The Texans are feeling good after annihilating the Titans on the road last week.

At 4-3, Houston is alone atop the AFC South and can gain even more ground in Week 8 with a win over the Jags.

Still, Jacksonville's Monday night performance deserves some credit. What's more, if the Texans are flying too high, Houston will have a problem.

The Jaguars defense is playing lights-out right now. If Maurice Jones-Drew can hold onto the ball, the Texans could be in trouble on Sunday afternoon.

San Diego Chargers

The Chargers looked uninspired in the second half of their Week 7 loss to the New York Jets.

The San Diego offense was out of sync and will now hit the road to face an extremely hot Kansas City Chiefs squad, who are winners of three-straight games.

As the Jags showed us on Monday night, the home team is never an underdog on primetime television.

The Chiefs knocked off the Bolts at home on Monday night last year, and they will very likely do it again in 2011.
