WWE Survivor Series 2011: Ruined Card Subject To, Will Change
Have no fear, wrestling fans. This can be turned around.
After a very solid Vengeance pay-per-view, the much-anticipated Survivor Series is just a few short weeks away. This week's episode of RAW was set to serve two purposes. The first was to wrap up the events of Vengeance, while the rest of the show was supposed to get us ready for Survivor Series. In the eyes of many fans, WWE failed in doing such a thing. Upon further review, there are pieces to what RAW gave us that can give fans a card that is as epic as they hype has let on.

If you watched this week's RAW for more than five minutes, you probably saw the segment between Kevin Nash and Triple H. Not only did the segment literally take up the first half hour of the show, but it was mentioned repeatedly and shown once again later on. Triple H wanted Nash to get signed by John Laurinaitis, the interim GM of RAW. Before anything like that could occur, Nash viciously attacked Triple H. WWE reports, at least in storyline, of some serious injuries with The Game.
It's likely that the bump HHH took from that jackknife powerbomb at Vengeance did some damage, and this is their way of keeping him on the card without having him wrestle. Now that Nash isn't cleared to wrestle and Triple H is probably taking a few weeks off at least from in-ring activity, expect both men to form their own teams at Survivor Series.
The first official match of the night saw Sheamus and Randy Orton defeat Christian and Cody Rhodes. This gave fans another look at the two SmackDown feuds on opposite sides of the spectrum. Most fans want to see more Rhodes/Orton, while many are sick of seeing Sheamus/Christian over and over. They kept both feuds alive with the two faces, who both won at Vengeance, victorious again. Sheamus pinned Rhodes this time, mixing the feuds up momentarily. In the end, expect these four, along with a few others, to be a part of something big in a few weeks.
We will skip the Divas match, as well as John Morrison/Wade Barrett, to jump right to the main event. Awesome Truth, who took out Zack Ryder, was facing John Cena and his camouflage shorts. In the end, Cena gets hit with a water bottle, causing a DQ, giving a win to Cena. Laurinaitis sets a match for Survivor Series with Awesome Truth vs. John Cena and a partner he chooses.
Let's just pause for a second to mull this one over. We already know that The Rock and John Cena are in a feud for WrestleMania. We also know that The Rock returns at Survivor Series. We were even told that Cena and Rock would team together at Survivor Series. Why was it a shock to have The Rock announced as the tag partner? The energy from the event's hottest storyline seemed ruined. Was it really, though?
Be honest and tell me you really believe it will stay a tag team match. This will be the 25th annual Survivor Series. It will also be the 15th anniversary of The Rock's debut. It was Survivor Series 1996 when Rocky Maivia debuted and was the sole survivor. Rock teamed with Marc Mero, Jake Roberts, and The Stalker (Barry Windham) to defeat the late Crush, Goldust, Jerry Lawler and Triple H.
This match has to evolve into a four-on-four or five-on-five match, even if The Rock has to literally book it himself. It's the silver anniversary of the event, so the traditional matches have to take place. I'm sure that Triple H and Kevin Nash will form their own teams, but John Cena and The Rock won't be teaming alone. World title matches aside, it is these types of matches that will make Survivor Series truly memorable or a total disappointment.
