WWE Power 25
With Vengeance over and Survivor Series fast approaching, the WWE Superstars are vying for a spot in one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year.
After Raw last night, we saw the return of Kevin Nash to attack Triple H, Alberto Del Rio begin a feud with CM Punk, John Cena calling on The Rock to officially take on Awesome Truth at SS and John Laurinaitis getting more screen time than ANYBODY wants to see.
But where do the Superstars rank on this day? We will a look at all of the top WWE personalities in descending order based on booking, relevancy, heat or pop they get from the crowd and their recent win-loss record.
Note: Superstars may be recorded together if fit.
Honorable Mention
1 of 26Mick Foley: Although Foley's return to the WWE has been officially announced, he has not been a relevant player on television yet, but he may very well be the new Raw general manager soon.
Brodus Clay: Clay continues to get awesome video segments weekly, hyping his debut on SmackDown Although Clay has not appeared yet, when he does, I expect him to be involved in a high profile feud immediately.
Eve Torres: Despite a solid performance, Eve lost her Divas Championship match at Vengeance, and that drops her out of the Power 25.
Alicia Fox: The new No. 1 contender? Foxxy scored a big pinfall victory over Natayla on Raw yesterday and could be next in line to challenge The Glamazon for the Title.
John Morrison: Try as I might, there is simply no room on the list anymore for Job Morrison. Morrison is continuing to get matches each week, which at least keeps him relevant, but I can't even remember the last time he actually won a match.
Michael Cole and Jim Ross: Like it or not, it looks as though we are going to be getting another announcer feud. Cole and Ross will go at it next week on Raw in "Cole's challenge," and if Cole loses, he says he will quit.
David Otunga: Otunga survived a possible move back to FCW after his gimmick was changed to have him serve as a lawyer who was instrumental in composing the walk out of the WWE superstars. I really like this gimmick for Otunga (who now looks to be a right hand man of John Lauriniaitis), but he'll need to get more in-ring time to really be taken seriously.
25. Daniel Bryan
2 of 26Finally, Bryan was given a match on Smackdown last week. Although he lost to Wade Barrett, he still performed pretty well. While it may be hard to remember sometimes, Bryan is one second away from a World Title shot, which can occur at anytime.
Although he's still almost completely irrelevant at the moment, perhaps a feud with Barrett could help him come back into play.
Stock Up
24. Beth Phoenix (Divas Champion)
3 of 26The Glamazon Beth Phoenix comes in at No. 24, the highest up in the Divas division.
Although Phoenix retained her title at vengeance, no one in the Divas division really draws any kind of reaction from the crowd, which is why she is the lowest champion on the list.
Yesterday on Raw, Phoenix stepped in on commentary and watched her partner Natayla lose to Alicia Fox, which could mean Fox could be Phoenix's next challenger.
Stock Down
23. Jack Swagger
4 of 26Although Swagger is much more relevant then he was months ago, he is losing momentum in his partnership with Dolph Ziggler.
While many people expected him to vie Vickie Guerrero away from Ziggler, he instead joined forces and became Ziggler's partner. Many people also expected Swagger and Ziggler to take the WWE Tag Titles from Air Boom at vengeance, but once again, they failed.
Swagger may get more steem if he gets more heavily involved in the feud, but as of now, he is just a minor player.
Stock Down
22. Ricardo Rodriguez
5 of 26Ricardo Rodriguez is quickly becoming more than just a ring announcer.
Rodriguez is getting more and more involved in WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio's matches and even got attacked by CM Punk on RAW this week.
Rodriguez actually has skills as an in ring performer and is trained, so you could even see him getting some actual matches soon.
Stock Up
21. Mason Ryan
6 of 26To the chagrin of many members of the IWC, it looks as though Zack Ryder will not get another chance to get the United States Championship from Dolph Ziggler at Survivor Series.
Instead, it looks as though the big Mason Ryan will be given the next chance to dethrone Ziggler. Ryan came back to RAW in a six man tag team match recently and turned face, and since then, has been ascending up the ladder.
Yesterday on RAW, he saved Santino Marella from a beating from Ziggler and Swagger, and started a feud with Ziggler, which will likely be for the Title.
Stock Up
20. Wade Barrett
7 of 26Finally, it seems as though Wade Barrett is beginning to become relevant again in the WWE.
After cutting a promo last week on SmackDown claiming a new "Uprising," he then followed this up with clean victories over Daniel Bryan on SmackDown and John Morrison on Raw.
Barrett is one of the top talents in the companies (despite his botch on Raw), and it looks as though they are finally recognizing this by getting him back on TV.
Who knows how far the Barrett Uprising will take him; maybe a shot at the Money in the Bank briefcase? Maybe even a title shot down the road if we see a face champion, but it certainly is something to remain optimistic about Barrett.
Stock Up
19. Sin Cara Azul and Sin Cara Negro
8 of 26After completing failing to at all educate the WWE audience about the history behind a Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara feud, now the WWE has officially unmasked one Sin Cara (Negro).
So it looks like this feud might continue, but if the WWE was smart, they would just end it now. Nevertheless, the Sin Caras do put on entertaining matches, so they will probably get more screen time.
Stock Down
18. Christian
9 of 26Christian's character has been sort of meddling since he finally lost his feud to Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship.
He has lost two consecutive PPV matches against Sheamus, and now who knows where his character may go. For a while, he looked like he could be the leader of a new heel stable including Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger and David Otunga. Now, however, all of those members seem to be going in different directions, and Christian's character is stuck.
He can snap out of it, but right now, Christian is fading.
Stock Down
17. Air Boom (Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne, WWE Tag Team Champions)
10 of 26The good news for Air Boom? The successfully defended their Tag Team Championships at Vengeance against Ziggler and Swagger. The bad news? They were given almost no time on television beforehand to promote the feud, and now it looks as though they have very few viable opponents.
If they re-feud with Ziggler and Swagger, it could become stale quick, but there are few other heel tag teams out there right now. I personally would like to see them feud with the Usos, but it's unclear whether the WWE believes in them or not.
What could save them is being part of the 5-on-5 traditional survivor series matchup, since it seems as though the main eventers will be occupied.
Stock Up
16. Zack Ryder
11 of 26For Zack Ryder, it's an uphill climb to the top, but his rise may be inevitable if his fanbase continues to grow.
Ryder lost his United States Title bout at Vengeance, but still, he got a pay-per-view match, which seemed near impossible just months ago.
Then, it looked as though Ryder's career would go even further on the rise on Raw last night, when he was picked to be John Cena's partner in the main event versus the Awesome Truth. Unfortunately for Ryder, he was ambushed before the match, and Cena competed in a Handicap match instead.
Still, though, even if Ryder doesn't capture the US Title, his popularity is soaring, and the WWE wont let his character go to waste while he is this hot.
Stock Up
15. Vickie Guerrero
12 of 26EXCUSE ME! But Vickie Guerrero comes in at No. 15 on this week's list.
As sad as it may be, Vickie may actually get the most heat in the WWE, much more then her clients Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger.
As long as Vickie keeps getting heat, she will keep getting air time and possibly build up more clients.
Stock Up
14. Kevin Nash
13 of 26Finally, it looks as though Kevin Nash is fit to compete as opposed to just randomly attacking people, and it will likely culminate with a match versus Triple H at Survivor Series.
Nash once again made his prescence felt Monday night after attacking The Game multiple times with a sledgehammer. If Nash can get some of hid old magic back on the mic and can still compete in the ring, he could possibly be one the marquee heels in the WWE for the next few months.
Stock Up
13. Dolph Ziggler (United States Champion)
14 of 26After successfully defending his United States Championship from Zack Ryder at Vengeance, Dolph Ziggler continues to move his way up on the WWE roster.
Ziggler is constantly improving on the mic and sells things well in the ring. He is the longest reigning champion in the WWE today, and it seems unlikely he will drop the belt to his next opponent Mason Ryan.
Stock Up
12. John Laurinaitis
15 of 26The former Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and current Raw general manager, John Laurinaitis comes in at No. 12 in the Power 25.
Like it or not, Laurinaitis is still involved in almost everything going on on Raw and will be continutally given more screen time The question I have is, why is he doing face actions when he is clearly a heel?
For instance, stopping Kevin Nash or making Awesome Truth stop attacking Cena. A face turn for Laurinaitis would be a terrible decision; let's hope he gets back to being the sneaky behind the scenes character that made him relevant.
Stock Down
11. Cody Rhodes (Intercontinental Champion)
16 of 26While still on the rise, Cody Rhodes' momentum took a step back after losing to Randy Orton at Vengeance.
A win could have been a signature moment for Rhodes, but at least the match didn't cause him to lose his IC Title.
Who will be next up for Rhodes? While personally I would like to see him continue to battle with Orton and possibly take place in the World Heavyweight Championship Scramble rumored for Survivor Series, it looks as though instead Rhodes will begin a feud with announcer Booker T, perhaps for the title.
Stock Down
10. The Big Show
17 of 26Although Big Show did not take the World Heavyweight Championship from Mark Henry at Vengeance he still without a doubt had a huge impact on the event.
By most accounts, Show and Henry put on a much better match then expected at the event, culminating with the broken ring that ended the match after a suplex off the top rope.
This sets up perfectly the WWE for the World Title. They can either continue a feud with Show, or they can move on and have Sheamus or Randy Orton go after the title.
Stock Up
9. Randy Orton
18 of 26The Viper comes in at No. 9 this week. Orton did manage a win over Cody Rhodes at Vengeance, but for the first time in a while, Randy Orton doesn't seem to be involved directly in the World Title picture, which is why he is so low.
He still is the face of SmackDown, but it is refreshing to see some other faces get a shot at the Title. Orton may be involved in the Scramble match for the title, but it would be a mistake if he walked out of Survivor Series as champion.
Let's see who Orton feuds with now if Rhodes moves on to Booker T. There is no doubt he'll be seen twice a week, but the question is, where does he go from here.
Stock Down
8. Sheamus
19 of 26Sheamus scored another pinfall over Christian at Vengeance, and he may very well have become the New No. 1 contender for Mark Henry's World Heavyweight Championship.
The Celtic Warrior has been on the rise since he turned face and is now the No. 3 babyface who consistently competes in the company behind Randy Orton and John Cena.
This is an important junction for Sheamus. A feud with Henry needs to happen now.
Stock Up
7. Alberto Del Rio (WWE Champion)
20 of 26The WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio comes in at No. 7. Del Rio looked good in his Last Man Standing match versus John Cena, but of course, the WWE could not have him win cleanly, and he only defended his title thanks to interference by the Awesome Truth.
Now, it looks as though Del Rio will feud with CM Punk, which will really test his promo work, as he will have to go at it on the mic with the best talker in the business.
Stock Down
6. Triple H
21 of 26The Game just misses out on the top five this week, but still is one the most relevant superstars in the business. After losing his Tag Team bout with CM Punk at Vengeance versus The Awesome Truth, HHH was attacked by Kevin Nash on Raw, furthering developing their feud.
The two will likely go at it at Survivor Series, and while many question if he overacted his attack, there is no denying Triple H still knows how to properly sell a story line.
The Game still receives one of the biggest pops when his music hits, and he likely will as long as he is able to compete.
Stock Up
5. CM Punk
22 of 26CM Punk was pinned for the fourth straight Pay Per View at Vengeance, which is why he drops down to five on this list. However, it is very likely he will be given a chance at the WWE Championship at Survivor Series.
After cutting another great promo this week, Punk attacked Ricardo Rodriguez after challenging Del Rio to a WWE Title match.
Although John Laurinaitis did not grant Punk the match just yet, with John Cena occupied with The Rock, Punk is the only logical choice to challenge Del Rio, and if he takes the Championship, he could become the No. 1 man in the company.
Stock Up
4. Mark Henry (World Heavyweight Champion)
23 of 26No one has been able to stop Mark Henry since he introduced his "Hall of Pain." Henry had defended his title against Randy Orton, and although he didn't win the match at Vengeance versus The Big Show, he did walk out still World Heavyweight Champion.
Henry still doesn't quite get the heat he should, but he has been doing a decent job on the mic since becoming champion. Now Henry will either continue to feud with Big Show or move on to Sheamus. Both are serious contenders for his Title.
I would like to see Henry keep the title even longer; his title reign has been refreshing.
Stock Up
3. John Cena
24 of 26Like it or not, John Cena is still the face of the WWE. Thankfully, Cena did not take Alberto Del Rio's Championship at Vengeance; however, he still put on a good wrestling match and maintained his prominence.
Now, Cena will move on to The Rock. Although he will be facing him at Wrestlemanina, Cena will partner with the Rock at Survivor Series to take on The Awesome Truth.
Cena will be in the main event in likely every pay-per-view until Wrestlemania, so don't expect him to go away anytime soon.
Stock Up
2. The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth)
25 of 26The Awesome Truth has been on a roll since forming a team together. At first, it looked as though the team would just challenge for the Tag Team Titles, but instead, they got involved in the Main Event scene, The Conspiracy angle, and have been unstoppable ever since.
They faced off against two of the top faces in the company, CM Punk and Triple H, at Vengeance and beat them thanks to Kevin Nash.
Now, they face off against two more of the biggest names of all time in the WWE, John Cena and The Rock.
Awesome Truth cuts great promos and gets tons of heat, so simply put, they are the biggest heels in the WWE right now.
Stock Up
1. The Rock
26 of 26In one minute, The Rock went from being rumored to return to being directly involved in the WWE's main event. After John Cena announced he would be calling upon The Rock to return at Survivor Series to partner with him to take on The Awesome Truth, he catapulted to No. 1 in the WWE Power 25 without even being seen.
The Rock is perhaps the most popular wrestler of all time, and now that he is relevant again, there is no doubt fans will be counting down until they see The Rock's return to a WWE ring.
While some might question him being No. 1, since he has not even appeared on TV yet in this angle, when the fans started chanting "Rocky," it became clear to me that there was no one bigger in the business than The Rock.
