Missouri vs. Texas A&M: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio, Game Time & BCS Impact

Adam WellsOct 25, 2011

When the Missouri Tigers head to College Station to take on Texas A&M, they have a chance to end any hopes the Aggies have of making it to a BCS game this season.

Missouri has fallen on hard times this season, which is to be expected when you lose two players (Blaine Gabbert, Aldon Smith) who are taken in the Top 10 in the NFL draft. They have lost three of their last four games, but looking at the glass half-full, those losses were to Oklahoma, Kansas State and Oklahoma State.

Texas A&M went through its lull period earlier this season with two-straight losses to Oklahoma State and Arkansas. But the Aggies are hitting their stride as they enter the hardest part of the schedule. After Missouri, they will play Oklahoma, Kansas State, Kansas and Texas to end the season.

Key Storyline: Will Missouri's Road Woes Continue?

Missouri has lost four games this season, three of them have come on the road. They have had a brutal schedule outside of Columbia—Oklahoma, Kansas State and now Texas A&M.

They have, however, been very competitive in all of their road losses. The three road losses have come by a total of 24 points.

Their offense is solid, averaging 491 yards and 34 points per game. The downfall has been the defense, which has given up at least 24 points in four of seven games.

They will have to weather an early storm from the crowd in Kyle Stadium if they want to win this game.

BCS/Top 25 Implications

Missouri's BCS and Top 25 hopes are over, though if they can win the rest of their games they can sneak back in to the polls.

Texas A&M still has an outside shot at the BCS. They have to win all their remaining games and hope that Oklahoma State loses twice before the end of the regular season. It is a long-shot, but stranger things have happened.

What They Are Saying

At his weekly press conference, Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman talked about what this year's Missouri team does better than last year's.

"

“This team is leading the Big 12 in rushing, and (quarterback) James Franklin is a big part of that because of the read option. They lean a little more to the run game this year than maybe last year. But it’s a great scheme. They spread you out, they are all over the place and it comes down to one-on-one open-field tackling a lot of times. They’re different from that standpoint. They still have the ability to throw obviously, this young man is growing into his position and he’s a good quarterback. They’re probably more balanced that way this year.”

Missouri Player To Watch: RB Henry Josey

The Tigers' bread and butter is the running game, which is led by Josey. He has 855 yards, six touchdowns and averages 8.6 yards per carry. He is the most dynamic player that they have and will be the reason that they win this game, if they are able to do so.

Plus, if Josey is able to get loose in this game it will open up the rest of the offense. He has been the only consistent player that they have, and he will determine how good or bad they play in this game.

Texas A&M Player To Watch: QB Ryan Tannehill

Ryan Tannehill is the engine that drives the Aggies' offense. He has had a good season overall—2,005 yards, 15 touchdowns, six interceptions—but in the two games the team has lost, he has played poorly.

Against Arkansas and Oklahoma State, Tannehill threw for 556 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. He has been terrific against everyone else—1,456 yards, 13 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Missouri doesn't have a good defense, so he should be able to stay on hot.

Key Matchup: Missouri Offensive Line vs. Texas A&M Defensive Line

Let's give some love to the big men in the trenches. A big reason for Henry Josey's success this season is because the offensive line has been able to open up holes for him to run through.

Texas A&M has had more than one game this season where they go through defensive lulls, which is the biggest reason that they lost to Oklahoma State and Arkansas. If they have another game like that this week, they will be left wondering what went wrong.

Prediction

Texas A&M has the momentum and is a more talented team. Add to that the fact that they are playing at home and you have a recipe for success.
