WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow: The 5 Best Moments of the Night

Kaleb KelchnerOct 24, 2011

The WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow was in full effect last night, and Bleacher Report is here to break down the five best moments from the show.

Last night's episode featured the fallout from WWE Vengeance 2011 where no titles changed hands, and Kevin Nash made his return.  Nash targeted Triple H during the tag match between Triple H and CM Punk against Awesome Truth, battering his old friend and finishing him off with a vicious Jacknife Powerbomb.

To start Raw, Triple H called out Nash, who was rumored to be in the arena.  He ordered John Laurinaitis to find Nash, and sign him to a contract so he could fight him without being charged with assault, or worse.

Triple H didn't have to wait for Johnny Ace to search for "Big Sexy" though, because Nash blindsided him with a sledgehammer.  After multiple beatings, Triple H was taken to a local medical facility in an ambulance.

There were many more memorable moments throughout the night, but did anything top Kevin Nash getting violent with a sledgehammer?

Dolph Ziggler Has a Quick, Fun Match Against Santino

1 of 5

There's not a whole lot to say about this match other than that it was short, sweet and moderately entertaining.

Dolph Ziggler didn't tear right through Santino, and was threatened by The Cobra on multiple occasions, but with the help of Jack Swagger in his corner, he hit the Zig Zag and got the win.

After the match, Mason Ryan ran out to save Santino from a golden haired beat down.

So who is getting a United States Championship push?  Zack Ryder, or Mason Ryan?

My money is still on Ryder, because his merchandise sales have been doing well, and Ryan has nothing going for him other than being a "physical specimen," or in blunt terms, a fellow who got injured and came back with even more muscles than he debuted with.

How could he pull that off?

John Cena Chooses the Rock to Be His Partner Against Awesome Truth

2 of 5

It was overacted.  It was predictable.  It was slightly confusing, but due to strength of competition (or, lack thereof) this moment makes it into the best five moments of the night.

John Cena was being beaten mercilessly by The Miz and R-Truth after their handicap match main event of Raw, but John Laurinaitis came out and called them off.  He "kicked out" Awesome Truth for a moment, but then stopped them to allow Cena to even the score.

Laurinaitis announced that since Cena didn't get the chance to have his scheduled tag team match with his partner Zack Ryder, he'd get to have a legitimate tag match against them with a partner of his choosing.

After cartoonishly stumbling around, and coming to the realization that he could pick anyone to be on his team, he chose The Rock.

The crowd was really into the moment, and the moment would have been far better if this team wasn't announced early, but they exploded over the announcement.

I mentioned that this moment was confusing, and that's because, apparently, this isn't going to be the five-on-five Survivor Series tag match.  That was the general understanding of what would take place...so...who gets the Survivor Series match now?

Please, not Team Triple H vs. Team Kevin Nash...oh no.  That is what they want to do, isn't it?

Mick Foley's Return Is Official!

3 of 5

This had to make it on the list.  Foley's return has been a long time coming, and we already knew about it, but it felt good to see it advertised on television.

I'm definitely curious to see how Foley will be used, whether he'll find a permanent role or be used short term to score even more interest in Survivor Series and the angles involved.

Either way, Mrs. Foley's baby boy is coming home!

Kevin Nash Destroys Triple H

4 of 5

Kevin Nash has mastered the art of making lethal weapons non-lethal.  As in, I've never seen anyone beaten by a sledgehammer and manage to not bleed, or have brain matter splattered all over the walls.

It took the entire two opening segments to complete the beat down, which should have been enough, but we saw replays of it all multiple times throughout the night.

Triple H sold like never before, his arm going stiff, and foaming at the mouth.  He was apparently trying to beat Mark Henry's sell job at Vengeance after the ring destroying superplex (Henry was twitching, and occasionally flailing an arm) for "Sell of the Month."

If the hardcore selling wasn't enough, one of the paramedics dropped this gem.

"Does he have a pulse?"

This blend of brutality, drama and unintentional humor made for a great moment, but it couldn't beat the top moment of the night.

CM Punk Verbally Destroys Alberto Del Rio and John Laurinaitis

5 of 5

WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio's victory speech was cut short last night when CM Punk interrupted him after making the claim that he is "the best in WWE."

Punk challenged Del Rio to a championship match, looking to cash in his title rematch that was never given to him.

Del Rio refused, saying that Punk couldn't even win his match at Vengeance, so why should he get a title shot?

Finally, John Laurinaitis came out, and looked to make a championship match between the two at Survivor Series, but on one condition.  Punk would have to claim that he respects Laurinaitis.

Needless to say, that didn't work out so well.

Punk tore into Laurinaitis, mocking him, saying he respected him for being a nobody in the wrestling business, to holding such a powerful position in WWE.

So, Laurinaitis opted to "think it over" for a week.  Funkhauser took it personally, but that's alright, Punk's shot is coming.
