UFC 137 Fight Card: Predicting Fight, Submission and KO of the Night Winners
The UFC makes it's way back to it's normal stomping grounds in Las Vegas as UFC 137 will take place live in front of a sold out Mandalay Bay Events Center on Oct. 29.
The drama-filled fight card will be headlined around UFC veteran B.J. Penn, who will square off with fellow welterweight Nick Diaz.
Also featured as the co-main event of the evening will be heavy-hitting Matt Mitrione, who will attempt to remain unbeaten when he meets Cheick Kongo.
While the fight card promises to be an exciting one, there will be some fights more exciting than others.
The following slides display the predictions for Fight, Submission and Knockout of the Night at UFC 137.
Lets take a look.
Submission of the Night: Donald Cerrone
1 of 3Donald Cerrone has been on a fast track to the top of the lightweight division after suffering a loss to Ben Henderson at WEC 48.
Since, Cerrone has reeled off five consecutive wins, including two by way of submission.
His opponent, Dennis Siver, is also no slouch as he's won four consecutive fights leading up to UFC 137.
Unfortunately, Siver hasn't proved he can defend the submission as four of his seven career losses have come by tap out.
Cerrone's game plan is to make Siver uncomfortable early and then enter in for the submission attempt.
Don't be surprised when it happens.
Fight of the Night: B.J. Penn vs. Nick Diaz
2 of 3You may call it "playing it safe," but when you have two of the greatest mixed martial arts in the Octagon at the same time, fireworks are sure to go off.
Diaz is arguably the best boxer in MMA today while Penn may be the most fundamental and well-rounded fighter in the UFC.
The main event will be a thriller as Diaz will look to use his boxing skills and end Penn's night early.
However, don't be surprised if we see this fight approaching the judge's scorecards.
This bout has potential to be one of the best of 2011.
Knockout of the Night: Matt Mitrione
3 of 3While UFC fans across the globe may be disappointed with Matt Mitrione and Cheick Kongo being the co-main event, they shouldn't be.
Mitrione is one of the best up-and-coming fighters in MMA today as he's posted a perfect 5-0 record since entering the UFC.
Kongo, on the other hand, is one of the most exciting fighters in the heavyweight division as he's coming off arguably the best knockout of his career against Pat Barry at a UFC Live event in June.
While Kongo has only been knocked out once in his career, fans shouldn't be shocked if Mitrione adds to that total.
This bout has potential to be an absolute slug fest.
