WWE Vengeance: Predicting the Winners
Tomorrow night WWE presents another pay-per-view.
Yes, so soon.
Tomorrow is WWE Vengeance and many superstars will be looking for retribution in their matches. WWE has set up eight matches and all have the potential to be good.
Will they be? Time will tell I suppose.
Now is it me, or does it seem like this PPV has barely any hype? I know there wasn’t much time between Hell in a Cell and Vengeance, but WWE has hyped up shows before with less time.
Will the thin amount of hype affect the show at all? Well, let’s take a look at the matches first.
Christian vs. Sheamus
1 of 8This has been a pretty good feud over on SmackDown.
Both wrestlers have traded victories since the draft, but now that their feud is in full force, Sheamus may have Christian’s number. At the same time, Captain Charisma may be in the Celtic Warrior’s head.
On two occasions Christian has cost Sheamus the Intercontinental Title.
Over the past couple of weeks they have been at each other’s throats: Sheamus playing the face on the warpath and Christian playing the cowardly heel running away from him.
I have no doubt in my mind that the winner of this feud will be next in line for a world title shot.
Sheamus defeated Christian at Hell in a Cell, so logic says that Christian will pick up the win here. I was never one to go with logic, though.
Christian is great in the ring and on the mic, but he had his chance in the SmackDown main event and no one really cared.
I think we’ll see Sheamus picking up the victory here while Christian will get his revenge at Survivor Series.
Winner: Sheamus
CM Punk and Triple H vs. Awesome Truth
2 of 8This feud goes all the way back to July’s Money in the Bank PPV.
In one of the most unique and interesting storylines WWE had come up with in years, CM Punk won the WWE title and left the company.
Then he came back a whole two weeks later.
Triple H gained control of the company and all hell broke loose. We saw a returning Kevin Nash hobbling back into the ring, a devious Executive Vice-President of Talent Relations and an entire locker room full of disgruntled employees.
WWE killed the Punk storyline too soon so they followed up with something that was history in the making.
After Triple H fired Awesome Truth, and attacked them while they were handcuffed, the entire locker room walked out on him after a vote of “no confidence.”
People were talking about WWE in positive ways I haven’t heard in years.
The very next week, they ended the walkout when John Laurinaitis was named as the interim general manager of Raw. They once again ended a history making storyline way too soon.
All of this nonsense has led us to this match.
Awesome Truth are looking for revenge because Triple H fired them, Triple H wants revenge because they’re part of the reason he’s no longer in charge of Raw and Punk is kind of there. Yeah they attacked him at Hell in a Cell, but the only reason Punk is a part of this match is because he was the center of the “conspiracy” for a while.
There’s no way this feud is ending so soon, but with WWE’s track record lately it wouldn’t surprise me.
Assuming that WWE is smart, I think Awesome Truth will win it here. Having the faces win would essentially end the feud.
Winners: Awesome Truth
Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes
3 of 8This feud had a very interesting start to it; in fact, I don’t think it would have happened if the event didn’t happen.
Before Hell in a Cell, Randy Orton beat the hell out of Cody Rhodes. It was so bad that Rhodes was left lying in a pool of his own blood.
If you missed what happened, it was pretty brutal.
Since WWE doesn’t allow blading anymore, this was a legit cut. Orton botched the ring bell shot and sliced open the intercontinental champion the hard way.
Because Orton was feuding with Mark Henry at the time, it was largely ignored; just another day at the office. Then Orton lost to Henry, and the feud started.
What happened was something we haven’t seen since Super Orton was invented, Randy Orton was embarrassed. Rhodes took him out and put a paper bag over his head.
Since then we’ve seen them talk of each other and fight in multi-man matches. This past Friday on SmackDown, Orton hit an RKO on Rhodes giving him the momentum going into the match.
Is it enough for a victory? I don’t think so.
Like most Orton feuds that are based on his rage, this will continue because of it. How exactly? By Cody Rhodes picking up the victory, thus pissing off Randy Orton even more.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
Beth Phoenix vs. Eve Torres: Divas Title
4 of 8Is anyone else bored by the Diva’s Division?
Things were heating up when Kharma debuted. Then she left.
Beth Phoenix and Natalya then went on a crusade to prove that they were the real wrestlers and women like Kelly Kelly and Eve were just Barbie dolls. After failing a few times, Beth finally won the Diva's Title from Kelly.
To everyone’s surprise, Kelly went nuts, but Eve got the title shot instead.
Did I miss the No.1 contenders match?
To me it seems like Eve was just thrown in there.
I don’t see why.
Every time she walks out to the ring the crowd is dead. The only time I notice the crowd popping for her is when she starts dancing.
I find it interesting that they would give Eve the title shot when there are plenty of other “Barbie dolls” for Beth to mow over before Kelly gets the title back from her.
I wish the Diva’s Division would be something I’d want to watch, but WWE doesn’t seem to care about it. If the company doesn’t care why should I?
Anyway, I’m giving the win to Beth Phoenix. It’s way too early for her to be losing it, especially to “Boring” Eve Torres.
Winner and Still Champion: Beth Phoenix
Air Boom vs. Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger: Tag Team Titles
5 of 8When Air Boom won the titles I had high hopes that the tag team division was on its way back to being good.
Where are they, though?
If I’m remembering correctly, Air Boom weren’t on either Raw or SmackDown this week. The challengers were, but that’s not enough to hype a match. You kind of need both teams for that.
While this will be a good match, this is another one I could care less about, mainly due to its lack of hype the past couple of weeks.
Sure both teams were involved in multi-man matches, but it would have been nice to see Dolph Ziggler take on Kofi Kingston or Evan Bourne instead of Mason Ryan.
Despite not caring too much for the match itself, I think we’ll get new champions here. Ziggler, Swagger and Vickie Guerrero are the center of everyone’s attention some weeks and I think the belts could benefit from that.
Winners and NEW Champions: Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger
Dolph Ziggler vs. Zack Ryder: United States Title
6 of 8Whoa! Are my eyes deceiving me?
Does Zack Ryder really have a PPV match?
Yes, yes he does! And it’s about time!
Ryder has been on a role lately. Two weeks in a row, he pinned Dolph Ziggler, but then he disappeared. He thankfully reappeared and continued his feud with Ziggler, Jack Swagger and Vickie Guerrero.
This past Monday on Raw, he defeated Swagger and was in Mason Ryan’s corner when he was defeated by Dolph Ziggler. by disqualification.
Can anything stop the Ryder Revolution?
Zack Ryder is a rare breed in WWE. He has talent, both in the ring and on the mic, and he is over with the crowd.
Now you’re probably saying “There’s a lot of superstars like that.”
That is true, but 99 percent of them got over thanks to WWE Creative. Ryder got over himself thanks to sites like YouTube and Twitter. Many superstars have tried to replicate Ryder’s success, but none have been able to.
Has WWE finally recognized the potential in the Long Island Iced Z? I think they have!
Woo Woo Woo, You Know It!
Winner and NEW Champion: Zack Ryder
Mark Henry vs. Big Show: World Title
7 of 8*snore* Oh, right, there’s a match happening.
Before winning the World Title, Henry went on a “rampage.” I don’t consider taking out two guys a rampage, but others do so I won’t argue.
One of the guys he took out was the Big Show. That’s no easy feat, so you got to give it to the World’s Strongest Man on that one.
Now that Show is back, he wants revenge on Henry. What better way to do so then to beat him down and take his title.
This match will be very physical but very slow.
I don’t see Big Show winning the title. Maybe at Survivor Series if the feud continues after this, but not here.
This match will belong to the “World’s Slowest Champion.”
Winner and Still Champion: Mark Henry
Alberto Del Rio vs. John Cena: Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Title
8 of 8Since the early stages of the conspiracy storyline, the WWE Title has changed hands seven times.
That’s seven times since July. Talk about a game of hot potato.
In those five months, the title hunt has featured a whole three superstars: CM Punk, John Cena and Alberto Del Rio.
I don’t know about anyone else, but the WWE Title picture is boring the hell out of me.
WWE, I plead to you. Please keep the title on Alberto Del Rio. We don’t need another title change, but we do need at least one of these two men out of the picture for a while.
I would prefer it to be Cena, but the WWE Title picture without Cena is like peanut butter without jelly. It just doesn’t happen, and if it does, it’s really rare.
There are rumors going around that John Cena is leaving the title picture after Vengeance and I hope that’s true.
Alberto Del Rio needs to have more than a one-month reign as champion. I mean come on; it is his destiny after all.
Winner and Still Champion: Alberto Del Rio
