WWE Vengeance 2011: How Big Show Has Ruined Mark Henry's Monster Run
Three weeks ago, Big Show returned to SmackDown for retribution against The World’s Strongest Man, Mark Henry.
The World’s Largest Athlete unleashed on the World Heavyweight champion, peppering him with punches, then chokeslamming him through the announce table. This on its own ruined Mark Henry’s monster run.
Mark Henry has been unstoppable over the last few months. The Hall of Pain has taken on a life of its own, and nearly has more members than the Hall of Fame. Mark Henry has bowed to no one and has actually brought a little prestige to the World Heavyweight title, as he powered his way to the top spot on SmackDown.

He has beaten Orton twice in two PPV events, winning cleanly both times. Orton is the SmackDown equivalent of John Cena—the top guy who usually can’t be touched. Mark Henry broke these boundaries with the two victories he gained over the former World Heavyweight champion.
Henry destroyed everyone and left people wondering who would be able to challenge and beat him for the World Heavyweight Championship. This was reinforced when Mark Henry said in a promo on SmackDown that he does not plan on giving up the belt anytime soon.
Then Big Show returned. Mark Henry fell victim to the giant wrestler he had previously crushed on many occasions, and was made to look weak because of it. Fair enough, Big Show needed to make an impact upon his return—but did he really need to get the better of Mark Henry the week after that as well?
By doing this, WWE Creative are making Henry look too vulnerable in the run up to Vengeance. However, if we look at the other side of the coin, it could be argued that this vulnerability is enticing the audience and making Big Show look like a credible threat to Mark Henry’s World Heavyweight Championship reign.
The fact that he has beaten on Mark Henry over the past two weeks has shown that Mark Henry can actually be beaten and broken down, despite his monstrous actions over the past few months.
Big Show has recovered from an injury brought on by Mark Henry’s uncontrollable rage, so for him to storm onto SmackDown and beat Henry like he hasn’t been beaten for months just doesn’t seem right to me. He has ruined a perfectly good, unstoppable run and he hasn’t even been in a match with him yet.
At WWE Vengeance, the two will square off in a match for the coveted World Heavyweight Championship. If Mark Henry wins the match and retains the title, then his reputation may be saved. However, he must win cleanly over Big Show.
If Big Show wins the World Heavyweight title, then we can all mourn the premature loss of a brilliant, monstrous run.
This article will be updated once I have watched SmackDown.
UPDATE: It seems that Big Show can knock Henry out with one punch now as well. Henry did not even get a chance to unleash any offence on Big Show.
I don't see the point of Henry coming down the ramp to interfere if Big Show was just going to knock him out straight away.
This has made Henry look weaker than I portrayed in my article, and now I am extremely worried for Mark Henry's push...
