WWE Vengeance 2011: Why Mark Henry vs. Big Show Should Be a One-and-Done Feud

Mike ChiariOct 21, 2011

Don't get me wrong, I certainly understand why Big Show challenging Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Championship at Vengeance is necessary. Henry was the one responsible for putting Big Show out of action, so it would have been stupid had Big Show returned without any mention of it.

Even so, there is no reason why the feud between Big Show and Henry should stretch beyond Vengeance. I understand that the feud actually started months ago, when Big Show destroyed Henry prior to a match on SmackDown, but, with Big Show being out for so long, I consider this to be a renewed rivalry.

The two behemoths managed to put on a passable match at Money in the Bank, and they may very well do so again at Vengeance, but they simply can't put on a very long match together—and almost certainly can't exceed 10 minutes.

If nothing else there will probably be some cool, powerful spots when the "World's Strongest Man" meets the "World's Largest Athlete" on Sunday, and there is certainly some novelty to it—but once you've seen one of their matches, you've seen them all.

In my opinion, Big Show needs to lose cleanly to Henry in a hard-fought match at Vengeance and move on to other things. Big Show is a great guy to have on the roster due to his size and experience, but he doesn't belong as a permanent fixture in the main-event scene at this point.

Also, Henry is an entertaining champion right now, due to his bad attitude and aura of dominance, but he needs a more mobile wrestler than Big Show to really put on good matches. Randy Orton is an example of a wrestler who was at least able to get a little something extra out of Henry.

In addition to that, there are several SmackDown superstars who deserve a shot at the title—the most obvious one being Sheamus. Henry and Sheamus had a very brief feud in the summer that culminated in Henry beating Sheamus via count-out at SummerSlam.

That feud never seemed to have a proper ending, however, and Sheamus has been built up as a major face since that point. He has a lot of momentum and plenty of crowd support right now, so now is the time to get him back into the title picture.

Sheamus would bring a lot to that feud as he has that same tough-guy mentality as Henry, only as a face. Also, he is underrated on the mic and is extremely good in the ring for a man his size.

Sheamus has managed to carry Great Khali through a decent match before, so he can certainly do it with Henry.

I'm not sure that I'm ready for Henry's title reign to end yet, but if somebody is going to do it, then I think it needs to be Sheamus—and definitely not Big Show.

I think Big Show is good for the company, and he's an honest veteran, but he needs to go back to the mid-card as soon as possible.
