7 NFL Personalities We Want on Twitter
Few things capture the fun of social networking quite like Twitter.
One of the real selling points of Twitter is the fact that fans can now interact directly with their favorite people (or commercial robots), 140 characters at a time. This fact has not been missed by many players, with a large portion of NFL-ers making accounts to talk directly to fans.
Despite this abundance of NFL names in the Twitter universe, there are a few prominent no-shows that if they were to join could add some real insight to the Timeline.
In addition to listing the people that could make for interesting follows on Twitter, this slideshow also includes a hypothetical preview on what they may send out with their new social networking powers.
Here are seven football players, coaches and personalities we'd like to see enter the world of Twitter.
Gus Johnson
1 of 7It's almost a guarantee that any game that is covered by commentator Gus Johnson will have a wild finish. And who better to cover that wild finish than Johnson.
Were Johnson to head to Twitter, it would almost be a guarantee for more wild sports happenings. That would certainly make up for the fact he's only done one NFL game this season as he transitions to covering college football (a travesty I say!).

14 minutes ago: My name's Gus Johnson…and I'll take plastic…

Brett Favre
2 of 7I understand that adding a future Hall of Fame quarterback could be risky (given rumors of behavior that would compare to U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner), but I think that risk has to be taken to hear his thoughts about football.
Personally, I think Twitter would be a great place for Favre to patch things up with his former portage and current Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Favre got some bad press after some comments construed as a backhanded compliment. A formal apology would be a great way to get the controversy out of the way. A sincere compliment could do wonders as well.

@AaronRodgers12 I see you've got a lot of followers…nice. Good to see you just kind of fell into a good situation. Surprised it took you so long.
Alex Smith
3 of 7He hasn't joined the Twitter world just yet, but I think with his improved play he deserves to finally hear praise for how he's leading the San Francisco 49ers.
At 5-1, the Niners are at their best start in over a decade, and that success may be a bit of a surprise for the former first overall draft pick.

Eighteen minutes ago: Maybe people will start comparing me to Jeff Garcia and not J.T. O'Sullivan… #vindication
Jim Caldwell
4 of 7Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell could be a real Twitter juxtaposition. His title would make him a major follow, but I can't imagine he'd come out with any content that would be interesting to keep up with.
Now that I think about it…Twitter might not be for everybody.

Joe Buck
5 of 7If there's anything that Fox commentator Joe Buck can get credit for, it's for keeping an even keel voice on the game. Even when the action demands some hint of enthusiasm, you can count on Buck to keep his cool. Now covering the World Series, he has a major opportunity to extend his trademark relaxed attitude to the usually frenetically paced world of Twitter.

Rex Ryan
6 of 7One of the loudest and most confident voices in the NFL today, New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan would be an excellent addition to the Twitter timeline.
In addition to giving him an outlet for his extra football thoughts he can't find time for at the press conference, it would also give him a platform to let us know about his hobbies outside of football. Maybe he paints…he might enjoy being in his garden…he could be a movie buff. There's no doubt he would bring all of his trademark enthusiasm to the world of Twitter.

Carson Palmer
7 of 7With the Oakland Raiders desperate for a replacement for the injured quarterback Jason Campbell, they moved major draft picks for the Cincinnati Bengals Carson Palmer.
Palmer may have to be careful that he doesn't get too candid about his months waiting outside the game as he feuded with Bengals general manager Mike Brown.
Now in Oakland, he takes over a team that has surprised many with their 4-2 record. If he can stay healthy and try to copy his 2006-07 success, the Raiders could be in line to make a serious run.
