UFC on Fox: Early Betting Odds and Predictions

Tim McTiernanOct 18, 2011

On November 12, 2011, the biggest event in UFC history takes place, as it will be making its debut on network television.

The UFC went all out for this card, as it put a heavyweight title fight on the card as the main event of the evening.

In addition to being the main event, it is also the only fight that is certain to be televised.

If you're looking to make a little money on the fights, you can check out early betting odds and predictions for a few fights on the card.

Bantamweight Bout: Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Darren Uyenoyama

1 of 4

On the preliminary card, Kid Yamamoto faces off against Darren Uyenoyama in a bantamweight matchup.

Yamamoto will be looking to get his first UFC win after a disappointing debut at UFC 126, where he lost a unanimous decision to Demetrious Johnson.

Injuries have kept him out since, but he'll be looking to come back strong.

Uyenoyama will be making his UFC debut and will look to make a name for himself against Yamamoto.

Uyenoyama has fought in Japan for most of his career, so he is not a household name, but a good performance could score him a spot on the main card and get him some recognition.

Prediction: Norifumi Yamamoto wins by second-round TKO.

Featherweight Bout: Dustin Poirier vs. Pablo Garza

2 of 4

Another fight on the preliminary card is Dustin Poirier facing off against Pablo Garza.

Poirier has had a very good year, as he was able to start off at UFC 125 and defeat Josh Grispi, who was originally going to fight for the title, and earn a unanimous decision.

He followed that up with a unanimous decision over Jason Young at UFC 131.

Pablo Garza comes into this fight after two incredibly impressive performances in his first two UFC fights, as he scored a KO via flying knee on the TUF 12 finale and earned Knockout of the Night and then earned Submission of the Night with a flying triangle to kick off UFC 129.

Prediction: Pablo Garza via unanimous decision.

Lightweight Bout: Clay Guida vs. Ben Henderson

3 of 4

In a fight that many are expecting to be a fight of the year, Clay Guida takes on Ben Henderson in what could likely be a No. 1 contenders' matchup for the lightweight title.

Guida comes into this fight on a four-fight winning streak with three finishes over Shannon Gugerty, Rafael dos Anjos and Takanori Gomi and a unanimous decision over final WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.

Ben Henderson comes into the fight 2-0 in the UFC with unanimous decision victories over Mark Bocek and Jim Miller.

Prior to the loss to Henderson, Miller was considered the top contender for the lightweight title, so "Bendo" basically stole his thunder.

This fight is going to be a fast-paced, nonstop battle between two relentless lightweights.

Prediction: Ben Henderson via unanimous decision.

Heavyweight Championship: Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos

4 of 4

Cain Velasquez: -105
Junior dos Santos: -125

The main event that will definitely be featured on Fox is the heavyweight title fight between Cain Velasquez (9-0) and Junior dos Santos (13-1).

These two were supposed to meet months ago, but a shoulder injury forced Cain out of the bout, and Junior took a fight with Shane Carwin in the meantime and kept his No. 1 contender's spot.

These are the top two heavyweights in the world today, and they are both very young. This could be the beginning of a rivalry for the ages.

Junior dos Santos comes into this fight undefeated in the UFC with wins over a host of names, such as Shane Carwin, Roy Nelson, Gabriel Gonzaga, Gilbert Yvel, Mirko Cro Cop, Stefan Struve and Fabricio Werdum.

Wow.

Cain Velasquez comes in after a long layoff after defeating Brock Lesnar at UFC 121 to win the heavyweight title.

Along with Lesnar, Cain has also defeated Minotauro Nogueira, Ben Rothwell and Cheick Kongo.

These two are both devastating strikers, and their grappling skills will likely counteract each other, as Cain is a fantastic wrestler and Junior is almost impossible to keep down.

This will be a war for the ages, and it's almost too close to call. However, I think Cain's cardio will be what wins this one for him. It could certainly end earlier than my prediction if someone lands something, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Prediction: Cain Velasquez via fourth-round TKO.
