Texas A&M vs. Iowa State: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Eric BowmanOct 18, 2011

The Texas A&M Aggies hit the road to take on a conference foe in the Iowa State Cyclones.

These two teams have played each other 10 times, and only once have the Cyclones won, which was back in 2005.

This is likely the last time they'll play each other since the Aggies will be in the SEC next season. The Cyclones have gone downhill since beating Iowa in overtime, but they're hoping to pull the upset and avoid their fourth straight loss.

With that said, let's take a look at some specifics of this Big 12 showdown.

When: Saturday, Oct. 22 at 3:30 p.m. ET

Where: Jack Trice Stadium, AMES, IA

Watch: ABC/ESPN3.com

Listen: KZNE 1150 AM, College Station, KCCQ  105.1 FM, Ames

Betting Line

The Aggies are favored at -21, and they shouldn't have much trouble covering. I think the Cyclones can surprise people and keep it at a close game in the first half, but the Aggies offense will be too much for the Cyclones to handle, and they will pull away late in the game.

Texas A&M Injury Report

Cornerback Coryell Judie continues to nurse a hamstring injury, which was hurt again late against Baylor. His status for Saturday is uncertain, as well as defensive tackle Tony Jerod-Eddie, who limped off the field against Baylor with an undisclosed injury.

Iowa State Injury Report

The Cyclones' leading rusher James White suffered a leg injury in the loss to Missouri last week, but he is expected to play on Saturday.

BCS/Top 25 Implications

The Cyclones could head in the right direction if they manage to upset Texas A&M on Sunday, but their recent struggles will likely prevent them from seeing the Top 25 anytime soon.

As for the Aggies, they need another victory to remain in the Top 25 because suffering a third loss of the season would make it very hard for them to stay ranked in the BCS.

What They're Saying

Aggies leading receiver Ryan Swope told Robert Cessna of The Eagle that QB Ryan Tannehill taught him a lot.

"

"He kinda molded me into the receiver I am," Swope said. "He really helped me read defenses. And I think it really showed Saturday that he has a feel for me and I had a feel for him and the chemistry was there."

"

Tannehill used to be a receiver before taking over as the main QB for the Aggies last season, so it wasn't too difficult for him to help out Swope. The two hooked up 11 times last week for over 200 yards, and it's likely that Swope will continue to be Tannehill's favorite target.

Cyclones' head coach Paul Rhoads continues to stay quiet as to who will be his starting quarterback on Saturday.

“We are going to practice through and see by the end of the week who we think has the best chance to lead our football team to victory." (Ames Tribune)

Steele Jantz has been the main man for the Cyclones, and thing were looking good after a 3-0 start to the season. However, three straight losses will force any coach to reevaluate where the team is at.

Jantz should be the starter since he has the most experience, but Rhoads is keeping his mouth shut. Perhaps this is nothing more than just talk to get Jantz to work harder and play better on Saturday. Cyclones' fans don't know what to think, but they sure hope it pays off.

Texas A&M Player to Watch

It has to be junior wideout Ryan Swope, who had over 200 yards receiving and four touchdowns last week against Baylor. Can he keep playing at such a high level, or will the Cyclones slow him down?

Even is Swope struggles on Saturday, the Aggies will be fine because they have loads of weapons with Jeff Fuller, Cyrus Gray and Christine Michael.

Iowa State Player to Watch

Senior wideout Darius Reynolds leads the Cyclones in receiving yards, and he has had two games with well over 100-plus receiving yards.

However, Reynolds was held to just two catches last week against Missouri. Iowa State desperately needs him to step his game up if the Cyclones want to have any shot at beating the Aggies.

Key Matchup

The Aggies run game vs. the Cyclones defensive front is the key matchup to watch in Saturday's game. In Iowa State's three losses, they have given up a total of 830 yards on the ground.

Texas A&M has two outstanding running backs in Cyrus Gray and Christine Michael, both of whom have rushed for over 500 yards this season.

Somehow the Cyclones will have to slow the Aggies down, but then they will of course be forced to limit Tannehill in the passing game. The Cyclones have a very tough task on Saturday as the Aggies can beat them with anybody.

Key Storyline

As mentioned before, this is the last time these two will play one another as members of the Big 12. Seeing as how they've only played a limited number of games against each other anyway, it's very unlikely these two will face off again for many many years.

Will the Cyclones steal a victory over the favored Aggies? Or will Texas A&M hand Iowa State one last beat down? In the 10 times they've played each other, only a couple of games have been close, and I doubt it will be close this weekend.

Prediction

The Aggies' offense is far and above the Cyclones', which is why they will prevail on Saturday. Texas A&M has too many weapons for Iowa State to stop, and while it may be close in the early going, the Aggies will triumph in the end.
