BCS Rankings 2011: Boise State and 3 Teams That Have Already Peaked in Polls
The Boise State Broncos tend to to have this problem.
As good of a football program as they are, they can never get high enough in the polls due to their weak schedule.
This year is no different.
They could only hope that TCU stayed on top of their game, but that didn't happen.
The Broncos have basically peaked in the BCS poll, along with two other teams.
Boise State (No. 5)
The Broncos need every team in front and in back of them to lose if they want to move up at all.
LSU and Alabama play each other Nov. 5 (a.k.a. Judgement Day). Oklahoma and Oklahoma State play each other Dec. 3 (might be too late). But Wisconsin, Clemson and Stanford could easily go unbeaten and vault over the undefeated Broncos by season's end.
Only three of Boise State's remaining opponents have a winning record.
The Broncos need a ton of help if they are going anywhere.
Kansas State (No. 11)
It is unfortunate, but the Wildcats have a brutal schedule starting October 29.
They'll face four straight ranked opponents (Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas) and have to travel for two of them.
The Wildcats have played some surprisingly good football, but they're not good enough to handle all four of these teams in a row.
In fact, there is a good chance they go 1-3 through this stretch, if not 0-4.
South Carolina (No. 14)
The loss of Marcus Lattimore is going to completely derail the Gamecocks' season.
The program has already dismissed veteran quarterback Stephen Garcia for being a complete moron, and now the loss of their lead back is irreplaceable.
Young and inexperienced, quarterback Connor Shaw has to grow up fast if South Carolina has any chance of winning road games in Knoxville and Fayetteville.
They came into this season knowing their best chances for success rode on Lattimore and receiver Alshon Jeffery. Now they're down to just the wideout with a question mark at quarterback.
