NFL Trade Rumors: Which Teams Should Call Patriots About Chad Ochocinco

John RozumOct 18, 2011

We haven't heard anything from Chad Ochocinco... on the the field.

Normally, regardless of whether he's jubilant off the field or not, Chad Ochocinco usually puts up some pretty solid numbers.

However, playing for the New England Patriots doesn't guarantee individual success for any wide receiver, just quarterback Tom Brady.

So with that in mind, it won't be any surprise if New England trades away or releases the veteran receiver, as he only has nine catches on 15 targets for 136 yards and no touchdowns this season.

Here are four teams that could use Ochocinco, because he still can bring some solid talent to the table.

The Pats' system, unfortunately, just hasn't been a fit.

Denver Broncos

1 of 4

The Broncos are clearly in an offensive revamping stage, which includes a new quarterback and some new wide receivers.

All-Pro Brandon Lloyd is gone, Eddie Royal wants out and Eric Decker (whom you've most likely never heard of) is now their most threatening target.

Sure, they still have Demaryius Thomas, but he's been hurt so much who knows when he'll be healthy.

Tim Tebow needs a legit receiving target, and Chad Ochocinco would be a good start.

Tebow has a strong arm and can extend plays, and you know he would love to throw to someone other than Eric Decker.

Denver needs all the help it can get right now, and Ochocinco would most definitely suffice.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2 of 4

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have the No. 14 ranked passing offense, but Preston Parker is their leading wide receiver (another new guy).

Tight end Kellen Winslow is a solid target as well, but with Parker still developing, quarterback Josh Freeman needs a stud target to help the offense.

If the Bucs' can acquire Chad Ochocinco, that will significantly improve their offense and get them closer to the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons' levels of explosiveness.

Obviously they won't put up over 35 points a game, but the addition of Chad will stretch their offense and take pressure off the running game at the same time.

Running back LeGarrette Blount is solid, but the Bucs' still only rank No. 15 in rush offense. Having a threatening wide receiver will keep at least one or two defenders out of the box and keep defenses honest.

Cleveland Browns

3 of 4

The Cleveland Browns made a huge mistake in not drafting a stud wide receiver in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Now they must add a savvy vet such as Chad Ochocinco if they want any improved production in the passing game.

Sure, rookie wide receiver Greg Little and Mohamed Massaquoi are decent, but Chad Ochocinco would stretch the field for quarterback Colt McCoy so much more.

And he has had success against the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, so he'll significantly increase Cleveland's odds of upsetting one of their division rivals.

Now think about how badly he would want to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals.

Browns' fans would welcome Ochocinco into Cleveland, and he would perform wonderfully as their best target.

Because, as we all know, Chad loves attention, and this city would most certainly make him feel at home.

Carolina Panthers

This would be the most perfect fit of any team for Chad Ochocinco.

For one, there's arguably the best quarterback under age 26 in Cam Newton. Then you have veteran wide receiver Steve Smith to go with two studly tight ends in Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey.

Not to mention, the Panthers do have a solid ground game.

Mix in Ochocinco, and Carolina just became as explosive, if not more so, as the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons.

Both Ochocinco and Smith have the ability to run any route anywhere on the field, and that would only set up the rushing attack even more.

Plus, it indirectly helps the defense, because now instead of having to worry about stopping the run (biggest weakness), Carolina would be scoring so much that their pass defense (biggest strength) will dominate.

Now think about how fun it would be to watch Steve Smith and Chad Ochocinco on the same team. Hilarious.
