BCS Rankings 2011: Wisconsin Badgers and Teams Falling After First Poll
Wisconsin Badger fans, you have a great football team this year. They have a great chance at winning the Big Ten Leaders Division, a great chance at winning the Big Ten Championship game and winning the Rose Bowl against whomever they happen to play.
With that being said, Wisconsin will not be playing for the BCS National Championship, as they will lose this week at Michigan State, thus falling in the BCS standings after the first week.
But, they won’t be the only team that will take a hit since the first BCS standings have came out. Wisconsin has a tough match against a very good Michigan State team, but who else will take a tumble?
No. 20 Auburn
The defending national champions opened the BCS standings at a respectable No. 20 spot. They are one of only two teams that have two losses on the season, while getting a spot in the first BCS standings.
However, the Auburn Tigers open up the BCS season by playing this year’s No. 1 team in the BCS, the LSU Tigers.
So, it was nice seeing the defending champions in the first BCS standings, but after the game against LSU on Saturday, they will find themselves on the outside looking in at the other teams inside of the second week of the BCS standings.
No. 22 Georgia Tech
Tech had a chance at opening the first BCS standings in the top 15 to top 10, but a bad loss to Virginia has dropped the Yellow Jackets almost out of the top 25 altogether.
This week, the Jackets are kicked out of the top 25 for good, as they travel to Miami (FL) to take on a Hurricanes team that has strung a couple of wins together.
With two straight wins, one of them against ACC team North Carolina State, it seems as if the 'Canes have cut down on their turnovers, which has resulted in their two wins.
For Georgia Tech, this game will be close, but as they proved with their loss last week at Virginia, this Yellow Jacket team may not be able to play as well if they were playing at home.
No. 25 Washington
Washington snuck into the first BCS standings at No. 25. However, this week, they get the Andrew Luck led No. 7 Stanford Cardinal at Stanford. So, it was a nice run for the Huskies and their fans, getting into the first BCS standings.
However, it will come to a crashing end this week, as Luck and Stanford will have no problem defeating Washington this week.
Four fan bases that will be seeing their teams drop in the second BCS standings come next Sunday. For Wisconsin, they will still have a shot to jump back into a BCS bowl game.
However, for Auburn, Georgia Tech and Washington, their BCS chances are all but over after this Saturday.
