World Football Transfer Rumors: 5 Moves Real Madrid Could Make in January
Real Madrid are on the hunt for the cream of the crop, to bolster their chances of competing on the same level as Barcelona F.C. Jose Mourinho and his Galácticos are desperate to win something of note this season—La Liga and/or the UEFA Champions League titles will suffice for now.
For the last three La Liga seasons, Madrid have finished as runners up to Barcelona.
The last time they won the title was in 2008.
The UEFA Champions League has eluded Madrid for almost 10 years.
In the fewest possible words—Madrid have been a disappointment, with and without Mourinho.
The skillful Cristiano Ronaldo has more than paid his dues for the club, but no man is an Island.
An injection of fresh blood is what is required for the once mighty Madrid. Sorry! It’s a pre-requisite if they’re ever to attain the heights they once hovered over.
The Madrid faithful will hope and pray, that the players that are supposedly bound for the Bernabéu are not just rumors…
5. Neymar Da Silva
1 of 5Rumours are rife that 19-year-old forward Neymar could either be joining the ranks of Manchester City or Real Madrid.
Real Madrid were reported to have agreed to sign the Santos sensation for a sum of £53 million.
However, Neymar has denied those claims and the bidding for the Brazilian International continues.
Madrid in January? Maybe.
4. Eden Hazard
2 of 5Arsenal, Liverpool and Paris St-Germain are all up against the colossus that is Real Madrid for the signing of Belgian International and Lille ace Hazard.
That’s according to Belgium news daily De Standaard.
They also have to contend with the influential Zinedine Zidane—Madrid’s director of football, who has immense clout at Real Madrid as well as in the transfer negotiations of players to the Bernabéu.
Hazard who has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo is said to be rated in the region of £48 million by Lille president Michel Seydoux.
The thought of departing with that amount of money for a 20-year-old still learning his trade will with all intents and purposes scupper the deal.
But there is hope.
3. Carlos Tévez
3 of 5According to the The Mirror Newspaper, there’s rampant speculation that Tévez, Manchester City’s want away star striker is bound for Real Madrid.
Tévez’ tenure at City seems to have come to an abrupt end following the UEFA Champion’s League group game debacle—his apparent refusal to play against Bayern Munich.
Roberto Mancini and now the City fans seem to have had enough of his diva-esque behavior, and would rather he was gone than disrupt City’s impressive start to the season.
City wants at least £35 million for Tévez, but his astronomical wages might just put off the Galácticos interest in him—Tévez earns £250,000 a week.
Nevertheless, it’s hard to imagine Tévez as a City player in the New Year.
2. Luis Suarez
4 of 5Suarez, who made his debut for Liverpool in February of 2011, is now rumored to be heading to The Estadio Santiago Bernabéu stadium, home of the Galácticos Real Madrid.
The Uruguayan International has scored 9 goals since his move to Anfield and five in all competitions this season.
If the reports are true, the striker could be departing the shores of Merseyside as early as January 2012.
A fee in the region of £35 million has been offered to Liverpool for his services.
Whether the deal goes through or not is another thing altogether—rumors in football sometimes end as just that—rumors.
1. Javier Hernandez
5 of 5The Sun Newspaper, the most reputable of British tabloids have suggested that Real Madrid have tabled an offer of £30 million for Manchester United’s Hernandez.
This is a rumor that will surely irk the United supremo Sir Alex Ferguson.
“ThePea” as he is fondly known by his team mates, is currently on £25,000 a week and United are set to triple that.
Real Madrid on the other hand are willing to double United’s offer of £75,000 and are hopeful they can get their man sometime in January or the summer of 2012.
What “The Special One” wants, “The Special One” gets?
The likelihood of “Chicharito” leaving “The Theatre of Dreams” is a no-brainer.
The latest news according to the Guardian is that United have already signed him to a new five-year contract, but that has yet to be confirmed.
The mystery and drama continues.
