7 WWE Superstars Who Are Becoming Irrelevant
With the WWE facing low ratings and attendance numbers, many fans have speculated of the elimination of the SmackDown brand.
What we have right now instead, is the Raw Super Show which essentially means that any superstar can appear on either show. Although this does serve an effective purpose of keeping the top superstars relevant and giving them to most exposure, it provides less air times for some mid card stars who would other wise be seeing match time on their weekly show.
Along with the cancellation of the online show Superstars, the Raw Super Show is effectively burying some superstars who are not given ample time to create rivalries or vie for titles and are stuck either jobbing or worse, not appearing on television at all.
The following superstars are those who are getting currently affected the most. All seven of these Superstars have potential to be in high-profile feuds, many of them already have had them.
It is possible for these Superstars to become relevant again; a prime example is Jack Swagger, who was previously irrelevant on RAW and is now part of a main-event heel stable.
However, if something is not done about these Superstars soon, it may be too late.
Wade Barrett
1 of 7Most members of the IWC agree that Wade Barrett is one of the top-level heels in the WWE.
Barrett shined as the leader of Nexus and was given World Championship matches, although he did not capture the title.
Nevertheless, most believed it was only a matter of time before Barrett held a World Championship in the WWE.
However, Barrett has recently been in a funk. After briefly feuding with Daniel Bryan, Barrett has once again faded into irrelevancy. Barrett was passed by in the new heel stable that was formed, despite being one of the men to speak against Triple H in the vote of no confidence.
Barrett hasn't even been seen on SmackDown recently (other than being in the Battle Royal) and lacks any kind of rivalry at the moment.
Barrett is simply being wasted right now, and it is a problem that needs to be fixed by the WWE.
John Morrison
2 of 7Since coming back from injury, John Morrison has been pretty irrelevant on Monday Night Raw.
Morrison did have a feud with R-Truth which produced some excellent matches, and he was given both US Title and Intercontinental Title Matches; however, for Morrison who was a previous WWE Title contender, his character has been losing steam week by week.
Many wonder if Morrison's run in the WWE will soon be over due to his recent twitter rant as well as his well-known displeasure over the firing of his girlfriend Melina.
But if he stays in the company, Morrison can become effective in both a face or a heel role. Either way, though, he needs to actually have a chance to win some matches if he is going to be taken seriously.
Alex Riley
3 of 7Ever since his feud with his former partner The Miz, Alex Riley has been unable to recapture the momentum he gained from that feud.
Riley was getting some serious pop from the crowd, and many expected him to take the United States Title from Dolph Ziggler in the Fatal 4 Way match at Night of Champions.
However, Riley didn't win, and now it seems that Zack Ryder has surpassed him as the top face contender for that Title.
Riley hasn't been in a match on RAW in several weeks and is fading deep into the mid card. Many believe Riley is a future WWE Champion, but maybe just maybe that time is sooner then people think.
I know it sounds crazy, but with CM Punk and John Cena occupied, how many more credible faces does Raw have to challenge Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship? Hey, it's just a thought.
Daniel Bryan
4 of 7Daniel Bryan is by far the biggest case of someone getting buried by the WWE that needs to change, fast.
After winning the Money in The Bank ladder match for SmackDown, many just assumed that Bryan would be elevated into the main-event scene.
However, after announcing that he would cash the Briefcase in at Money in The Bank at Wrestlemania, Bryan has been relegated instead to brief feuds with Wade Barrett and Sin Cara and nothing else.
Bryan hasn't even appeared on SmackDown lately. Although many argue that it would be too early for Bryan to be built up, I highly disagree with that. Why not have Bryan defend the briefcase a few times?
At least have him win some matches. Maybe Cody Rhodes' IC title is in his future, just please, WWE, give him something to do.
Tyson Kidd
5 of 7Unfortunately, Tyson Kidd may already have become irrelevant.
Because he isn't the best on the mic and doesn't really have a useful gimmick, Kidd is rarely featured on television, and when he is, he's usually jobbing to an up-and-coming face superstar.
But Kidd is really good in the ring. In my opinion, he is one of the best talents inside of the ring on SmackDown. Look back at his efforts in the 20-man battle royal in which Mark Henry won the #1 Contender for the World Title on SmackDown for proof. Kidd actually made it all the way to the top 5 in that match and had some great spots.
To me the decision is so obvious, the Cruiserweight division is right there to be revamped. Superstars like Sin Cara 1 and 2, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Yoshi Tatsu as well as Kidd could bring it back and give SmackDown an extra push.
Ted DiBiase
6 of 7So Ted DiBiase broke away from Cody Rhodes, turned face and lost his match for the Intercontinental Title. Put that one down for most predictable story line of the year.
DiBiase was getting unnecessary for Rhodes who is quickly ascending up on the card while DiBiase remains stagnant. There are enough heels out there for DiBiase to feud with, so find one, WWE.
This guy is pretty good in the ring and can have charisma when given the right opportunity. I would like to see DiBiase remain a player on SmackDown but after his loss to Rhodes, he has been nowhere to be found.
Jinder Mahal
7 of 7I know I'm in the minority, but I really like Jinder Mahal.
Every time he's in the ring, he impresses me, he's actually got a pretty good move set and sells things well.
I know that he probably won't ever be Main Event level but Mahal could have a good enough gimmick to stick around for a while in the WWE.
After rolling his way through SmackDown, Mahal feuded briefly with former partner The Great Khali and has now been resorted to jobbing and getting his speeches interrupted.
Mahal would be a good fit for the Tag Team division, I believe, and he could even be a future Tag Champion someday.
Jinder finished third in SmackDown's Battle Royal this Friday and hopefully, that will not be the highlight of his career.
