BCS Rankings Week 8: Oregon and 3 One-Loss Teams That Deserve BCS Love
Everyone needs to forget about Oregon's loss to LSU and give this team some credit for their body of work.
The Ducks have scored over forty points per game since then and are talented enough to win without LaMichael James and Darron Thomas in the lineup.
Oregon didn't make the BCS Championship game last year out of luck; this is an extremely talented team. Even though they lost to LSU in the opener, they still impressed. They scored 27 points in the loss, the most points that LSU has conceded this season.
Thomas has been efficient again this season as he only has two interceptions on the year. This is the most explosive offensive team in the country and there is no doubt that they can outscore whoever they play. Unfortunately, he was injured in the victory over Arizona State, and there is no timetable yet for his return.
The team was still able to knock off ASU by a comfortable margin with redshirt freshman Bryan Bennett leading the way. Now, that's impressive.
The Ducks deserve some BCS love, as they are primed for another appearance in a BCS game.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Much like the Ducks, you have to love Arkansas' offense. Despite losing Ryan Mallett to the NFL, the Razorbacks' passing attack has been lights out under Tyler Wilson.
Arkansas is throwing for over 330 yards per game, and the junior QB is proving himself as one of the most underrated QBs in the NCAA.
The team is averaging over six yards per play on offense, and are scoring nearly 40 points per week.
Unfortunately for Arkansas, they lost RB Knile Davis before the season, but they have still been effective on the ground as they run for nearly 130 yards per game. Their defense could improve yardage-wise as they are giving up over five yards per play, but they are only giving up 21 points per game.
It's hard not to fall in love with Arkansas after two dominant victories over Texas A&M and Auburn.
West Virginia Mountaineers
If you wanted another high-powered offense, you got it.
West Virginia is averaging 380 yards per game through the air and are also putting up 40 points per game.
Much like Arkansas, they are averaging over six yards per play, but their defense is playing a bit better. They are only conceding just over four yards per play and are really shutting opponents down on third downs.
Up to this point in the season, they are only allowing opponents to convert on third downs 28 percent of the time. You can't ask for much more than that from your defense.
Add to the fact that this team has Geno Smith at QB, one of the most dynamic players in college football, and this is a team that no one wants to play.
Keep in mind: they did throw for over 400 yards against LSU, which is nearly impossible.
If you're looking for three one-loss teams who could bust into the top five, these three teams have huge upside for the rest of the season.
