College Football Recruiting 2012: 3 BCS Schools That Never Have Good Classes
In recruiting, every so often, you'll see a program have a better than expected year on the trail. For 2012, programs like Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Cincinnati and Kentucky come to mind.
However, then there are teams that just downright never, ever, ever have a good recruiting class rankings-wise. Who knows what factors play a crucial role in it, but the following programs pretty much are dwellers every February on National Signing Day.
Here we go.
3. Wake Forest
1 of 3Pretty much the Demon Deacons are a basketball school. However, they got to a BCS bowl in 2007.
Yet, they are never on any top recruit's short list and never haul in a top 25 let alone top 50-60 class. Right now, Scout.com has them ranked No. 70 overall.
Just another normal recruiting cycle for the Demon Deacons.
2. Duke
2 of 3Duke is just as bad and if not worse than Wake Forest on the recruiting circuit. Sure, there are strict admission policies and requirements and that little religion or that is Duke Basketball to bode with.
But seriously, this is football, and they're in North Carolina—a talent-rich state. At least once every say five or 10 years, you should see Duke inside the top 35 or 40 classes.
But nope, never happens and it may never will.
1. Indiana
3 of 3Gunner Kiel is arguably the top QB prospect in the country. Gunner Kiel is hands down the biggest recruit to commit to Indiana in history.
That's not good for the overall recollection of Hoosier football recruiting, as along with Kiel, many feel this is the strongest class assembled at IU in years.
The Hoosiers never are a recruiting power. But Kevin Wilson is looking to change that.
