NFL Picks Week 6: Which Teams Will Exit With Winning Records?

John RozumOct 14, 2011

If a team is slightly above or at .500, getting the W in their next game can be a significant season-changer in the NFL.

Unlike wrestling, baseball or basketball, your opportunities to win in football are significantly less, therefore, you must make the most of every game.

These four teams will do just that in Week 6, therefore getting to/maintaining a winning record, and averting the loss and dropping to/below a .500 record.

Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) vs Jacksonville

Heading into the Tennessee game, the Pittsburgh Steelers needed a big win to get above .500. Now they need a win to stay within a fighting chance of the Baltimore Ravens.

Coming into Pittsburgh are the Jacksonville Jaguars (losers of four straight), who are in desperate need of a W.

However, the Steelers are the clear favorite in this one, and after throttling the Titans last week, Blitzburgh is banging on all cylinders while the Jags continue to rebuild with rookie QB Blaine Gabbert under center.

Just expect a lot of blitzing from The Steel Curtain, because they'll start off slow, but manage to pull away late.

Cincinnati Bengals (3-2) vs Indianapolis

After the unconvincing 1-2 start, the Bengals have won two straight games (Buffalo and Jacksonville), and play host to the "nothing to lose" Indianapolis Colts.

Cincinnati's Top 10 defense suffocates throughout the contest, but thanks to a defense that never quits, Indy keeps it close until the second half.

There, Cincy takes over and rookie WR A.J. Green has his first multi-TD game as the Bengals route the Colts late.

At least for Indy's sake, the travel to Cincy isn't that far.

Oakland Raiders (3-2) vs Cleveland

With all the Peyton Hillis stuff going on right now, the Cleveland Browns are severely distracted, whereas the Oakland Raiders may be the most focused franchise in the league right now.

Oakland proved how mentally tough they were, by winning on the road in Houston after owner Al Davis had passed away.

RB Darren McFadden has another great game and totally blasts through the Browns defense as if they weren't there, while Cleveland continues to struggle in the midst of a disappointing season.

Cleveland still has an outside shot in the rather weak AFC North, whereas the Raiders are looking like the best team in the AFC West.

Dallas Cowboys (2-2) at New England

It's going to be a shootout nail-biter, but the Dallas Cowboys are very capable in winning over of Patriots on the road.

Dallas has the No. 3-ranked pass offense and New England has the No. 32-ranked pass defense.

In addition, QB Tony Romo is getting WR Miles Austin back, Dez Bryant is closer to 100 percent and TE Jason Witten will continue to do work as usual.

As for the Pats, Tom Brady will have a normal 300-plus yard day, but the Cowboys have a much better defense than New England, so Big D gains the advantage.

Make no mistake about it, these Cowboys are for real, and until the Pats can improve defensively, they're always vulnerable to a loss, no matter how well Brady performs.

Cowboys 41, Patriots 37
