Fantasy Football: Tim Tebow and Who to Pick Up and Start in Deeper Leagues
I had a few interesting conversations last weekend. They weren't really about fantasy football as much as they were about fantasy football analysis. Multiple individuals I spoke to told me that most of the waiver wire advice they see is either completely obvious or useless because the players are already owned in their league.
That makes sense right? What good will it do to tell you to pick up Giants receiver Victor Cruz? He was probably added in most leagues two weeks ago. If he's still available in your league, there's probably a ton of players available.
But most of us are in active leagues where there's at least one or two owners who constantly pick up who ever the "Flavor of the Week" is each week.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
So, here are some players that should be available in your league. Be careful with who you drop at all times and pay just as close of attention to whom your opponents drop. Never get too attached or overvalue your players. Also, never cut a player just because he had one bad game.
QB
Tim Tebow - Tebow was a top-10 fantasy QB when he started last season and he looked decent in Week 5. He's on a bye in Week 6, but he's worth picking up in all leagues. We'll deal with starting or trading him next week.
Andy Dalton - Dalton gets the Colts at home in Week 6 and the Colts just got done making Matt Cassel look like Aaron Rodgers. Dalton is a decent spot start if you need a QB for Week 6 only.
Colt McCoy - The Browns have shown some life in the passing game with McCoy throwing for 350 yards in Week 4. The Browns had a bye last week and travel to Oakland to face the Raiders in Week 6. Rookie WR Greg Little has been promoted to the starting lineup and McCoy should be good for at least 200+ yards and 2 TDs this week.
RB
Jackie Battle - Battle is the obvious pickup, but don't go crazy with who you cut. Battle still has to split some touches with Thomas Jones and Dexter . Furthermore, he's still running behind the same poor blocking on the same tough schedule.
But if he's going to get 20 carries per game, you need to pick him up. The Chiefs are on a bye this week, but Battle is worth a pickup in leagues with 12+ teams.
Delone Carter - We all keep trying to love Carter. Everybody loved him in the preseason, and the Colts have tried to get him the ball. However, he just hasn't done anything with it. Carter is averaging less than 3 , but he will draw the start with Joseph Addai injured.
The Colts go on the road to face the Bengals in Week 6. Carter will get the goal line carries and might be able to cobble together a decent fantasy day. But there's not a lot of upside here outside of some worth picking up Carter as a flex play in Week 6. He's also worth holding onto until Addai returns to health.
Donald Brown - Yep, the other Colts RB who might be the only one available in deeper leagues. If Carter struggles, Brown could get his chance. The former first-round pick has done nothing to justify his draft status, but crazier things have happened.
If you're in a bad place at RB this week, Brown has some upside. He's worth looking at as a flex play in deep leagues in Week 6. He could leapfrog Carter to be Addai's backup with a good performance.
Earnest Graham - No matter who says what for the Bucs, Graham will carry the load at RB in Week 6 vs. the Saints. Graham has already had some value in PPR leagues and that will continue here. LeGarrette Blount could miss multiple games with a left knee injury so Graham is worth picking up in most PPR leagues if you have the roster space.
He also should be a decent start in Week 6.
Roy Helu - I'm assuming Ryan Torain was already picked up in your league. That said, the Redskins face the Eagles' league-worst run defense in Week 6 and there's a chance that all three Redskin RBs get in on the fun.
Helu will see a few carries and a few looks in the passing game. That's not great, but the Eagles really can't tackle anybody, so there's some upside here. Enough worth using as a flex in deep leagues in Week 6.
Stevan Ridley - This is partially because Bill Belichick has some Mike Shanahan in him. In Week 5 it looked like BenJarvus Green-Ellis locked down the Patriots RB job. In reality, though, the Patriots' approach every week differently.
Ridley might have been dropped in your league and is worth picking up. He possess the best overall combination of skills amongst the Patriots RBs and he's only one injury away from being a consistent fantasy option. He's worth picking up in most leagues if you can spare the roster spot.
WR
Greg Little - The Browns travel to Oakland to face the Raiders in Week 6. Little has just been promoted to the starting lineup and is by far the most talented Browns receiver. Look for him to quickly become Colt McCoy's favorite target. He's worth picking up in most leagues as a WR3 play in Week 6 and he's worth holding going forward.
James Jones - Jones started the season slow and was cut in most leagues. He's seen increased targets over the last two weeks, though, and he appears to have leapfrogged Donald Driver in the Packers WR pecking order.
Even if he's only the fourth option in the Packers passing game, that's better than being the first option on some other teams. He's worth picking up in leagues with 12+ teams.
Steve Breaston - Breaston has slowly been worked into the Chiefs offense and he scored two TDs in Week 5. The Chiefs are on a bye in Week 6 and that's good for Breaston.
He could use another week of practice with QB Matt Cassel after signing as a free agent this offseason. His presence has helped Dwayne Bowe and the Chiefs passing game improve as a result. Breaston is worth picking up in deeper PPR leagues.
Laurent Robinson - It looks like Dez Bryant and Miles Austin will play for the Cowboys in Week 6 as the Cowboys travel to play the Patriots. The very same Patriots who have the NFL's worst passing defense right now. This game should be a shootout and Robinson will see his share of looks working out of the slot for the Cowboys.
He's worth a spot start in Week 6 if you need a WR in deeper leagues.
TE
Fred Davis - If he's available, RUN to the waiver wire. The Redskins face the Eagles in Week 6 and the Eagles can't cover you if you played TE. Davis is still the Redskins TE you want and his stock will rise dramatically after this week. He's worth picking up and starting in all leagues.
Jared Cook - The Titans are on a bye in Week 6. Cook, however, had nine targets in Week 5 and could wind up being the most heavily targeted receiver for the Titans because of Kenny Britt's injury. If you have the roster space, Cook is an excellent player to stash. He still has elite TE1 upside.
Ed Dickson - The Ravens are home against the Texans in Week 6. Dickson will benefit from the bye week and the return of Lee Evans. The Ravens will be able to open up the offense with Evans, Dickson and Torrey Smith on the field. Look for Dickson to catch a few passes and see a target or two in the . He's worth picking up and using in Week 6.
A few of these players might be owned in your league, but that's just the way it goes. If you have any questions or comments please use the comments feature or Twitter. If you do have any questions or comments please be specific. Thanks for reading and good luck this week.
