WWE Vengeance 2011: Alberto Del Rio Will Finally Defeat John Cena
With just 11 days until WWE’s next pay-per-view, Vengeance, the main event was finally announced by interim general manager John Laurinaitis on RAW.
John Cena will be wrestling Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship.
The match means nothing because Del Rio has not been made to look like a strong champion either time that he has held the title, but don’t expect Cena to walk out of Vengeance victorious.

Remember at Night of Champions, when all the talk was about how Del Rio had to win the match over Cena to look like a credible champion?
Basically, that same situation applies at Vengeance. The difference, however, is that Cena is not coming off two straight pay-per-view losses. He lost the title at Hell in a Cell because Del Rio pinned CM Punk in a triple-threat match with Cena locked outside of the cage.
While no one in WWE will come out and admit it, I believe that the only reason Cena won the title at Night of Champions is because he had lost at the previous two pay-per-views. Since Superman can never lose, he had to get a win back.
Now, there is no reason for Cena to win this match against Del Rio. The next event after Vengeance is Survivor Series, and we already know that Cena will be teaming with The Rock and three others in a 10-man tag match.
With Cena locked into a program for the next month, the WWE championship would be in limbo around his waist.
At least if Del Rio retains the title, he can be built up to look like a top heel in the company and there will be some real drama surrounding the WWE title, which is something that does not often happen in WWE.
The only reason that Cena could win is because Vince McMahon has a panic attack and wants to try to pop a cheap rating on RAW the night after Vengeance. That might sound like a dumb reason to change a title, but it is not like it hasn’t been done before.
Del Rio has to keep the championship this time around if he is ever going to become the star that McMahon believes he can be. Whether that is enough to actually let him keep the title remains to be seen.
No matter what your feelings are about Del Rio, even the most logical person would say that Cena does not need the title right now. That is why, when Vengeance is all said and done, Del Rio will still be WWE Champion.
