Bills vs. Giants: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More

Wes ODonnellOct 12, 2011

The Buffalo Bills and New York Giants are no strangers with one another. However, this is the first time in a long time when both teams are relevant.

Most of that falls on the Bills as they are chasing their first postseason berth since 1999. The Giants, on the other hand, have been to two Super Bowls during that span (won one and lost one) and are just trying to survive until their bye week without any more injuries.

That seems nearly impossible, though. And things for Big Blue are mighty blue when looking overall depth and talent.

Both teams are in the hunt for a division title, but it is the Bills who actually lead the crowded AFC East.

This trip to MetLife Stadium is the first of two that they'll make this season.

The Giants desperately need a win to avoid falling any further after their shocking loss against the Seattle Seahawks a week ago. As for the Bills, they want to keep as much momentum as possible going into their bye week.

Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey

When: Sunday, October 16 at 1:00 p.m. EDT

Watch: CBS. DirecTV 704.

Listen: Bills - WGRF 96.9 FM, Sirius 112 . Giants - WFAN 660 AM, Sirius 91.

Betting Line: Giants -3

What's At Stake?

Momentum. These out of conferences foes both need momentum for different reasons. The Bills have been a resilient team all the season and would love to ride into their bye week with what would be the the most unlikely 5-1 record in the league. They open with two straight home games following the bye and if they could get to 7-1 it would be a huge achievement for them.

Big Blue needs momentum, but mostly to boost morale. The team has been without a number of their best players throughout the season and it hasn't gotten better as of late.

They gave away that game to Seattle and they cannot afford to drop two straight games at home going into a bye week. The Giants are notoriously bad coming off the bye.

Bills' Injury Report

Terrence McGee, CB: The Bills best cover corner was suited up last week but didn't play. He is expected to be a full-go this week.

Donald Jones, WR: The outside target has a high ankle sprain and is out at least for the next 4-6 weeks.

Demetrius Bell, LT: The starting blindside tackle is not expected to play this week, again.

Giants' Injury Report

Chris Snee, RG: The Pro Bowl right guard will likely miss his first game since 2004 with a concussion.

Justin Tuck, DE: The Giants defensive captain simply cannot get on the field. He's battling neck and groin injuries and is unlikely to return before the bye week.

Brandon Jacobs, RB: The big back is still battling a sprained MCL and the Giants are likely to hold him out until the bye week.

Fantasy Start 'Em, Sit' Em and Sleeper

Start 'Em: Fred Jackson, RB, Bills

The running back has been lighting it up in the air and on the ground. He's the best and most reliable weapon on this offense and the Bills cannot win without him. The Giants have not been good against lead backs this year, either.

Sit 'Em: Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Bills

He's been hot all season, but he's without his starting left tackle and going up against the league's best pass rush. The Giants lead the NFL with 18 sacks on the season despite Justin Tuck's absence. Fitzpatrick has been very good this year, but if the Bills win this game it will be on Fred Jackson.

Sleeper: Eli Manning, QB, Giants

He's coming off a career high passing day and will need a performance like that again this week. The Giants are going to be without Pro Bowl right guard Chris Snee and possibly without center David Baas (although he's hopeful to play). Big Blue's running game has been terrible even with them in the lineup and Eli is going to have to chuck the rock a bit. As long as he doesn't turn the ball over a ton, he should rack up yards.

What They're Saying

The Buffalo News discussed adding a new-old-new passing rushing threat to their defense in Arthur Moats:

"

The Bills have little to lose in using Moats as a pass rusher -- with just five sacks on the season, they are tied for last in the NFL in that category. Moats flashed potential in that role last year, finishing with 2.5 sacks and 24 tackles in four starts.

"

Meanwhile, the New York Post discussed the Giants' injury problems to numerous starters writing:

"

As expected, right guard Chris Snee was not able to practice after sustaining a concussion in the 36-25 loss to the Seahawks ... Running back Brandon Jacobs is also sidelined with a knee problem after straining his medial collateral ligament against the Cardinals in Arizona ... Defensive end Justin Tuck (neck, groin) did not practice. He and Jacobs rode stationary bicycles. It appears more than likely Tuck will miss his fourth game and shut things down this weekend and then have the bye week to try to get his physical situation in order.

"

Things simply don't look good for the Giants in terms of injuries.

Bills Player to Watch: Arthur Moats, OLB

The Buffalo News talked about him and if the Bills want to force turnovers out of Eli they will have to put pressure on him. New York's left tackle Will Beatty has not been particularly good, and Kareem McKenzie is susceptible to speedy pass rushers on the right side.

The Bills will need Moats to wreak havoc off the edge.

Giants Player to Watch: Jason Pierre-Paul, DE

The second-year defensive end has become virtually unblockable. He's second in the league in sacks and the Giants have 18 altogether to lead the league. With Demetrius Bell out at left tackle the Bills will likely throw some help to rookie Chris Hairston against Osi Umenyiora. When they do that it will be JPP who has a one-on-one matchup on the opposite side.

Key Matchup: Bills' O-Line vs. Giants' D-Line

Every game starts in the trenches, but this one should end there as well.

The Giants, as previously stated, lead the league with 18 sacks. Buffalo has given up a league-low four sacks through five games, which is astonishing.

If Buffalo can control the Giants pass rush they will then be able to take control of the football game. If not, Ryan Fitzpatrick will be scrambling for life all day long.

On the Hotseat: Giants' defensive coordinator Perry Fewell

Fewell's not here because his job is in jeopardy, but he's facing his former team who coached on an interim basis. His defense is also struggling to stop the run and they blow far too many coverages.

He gets the benefit of the doubt in the secondary due to injuries, but it has been a long time since a Giants defense was this bad against the run.

Fewell needs to fix some things quickly or Fitzpatrick's big brain is going to hurt the Giants.

Prediction: Giants 28, Bills 27
