Jim Ross' Once Again Being Used on Live Television in Unfortunate WWE Firing
“Hey, JR, we’re really going to get Johnny Ace some great heat tonight, so he’s going to pull you in the ring, and fire you. We’ll have either Vince or Triple H reinstate you, in a couple of weeks or so, but until then we’re going to keep you off TV. Sound good?”
That’s the plan that should have been covered with Jim Ross on Monday before Raw went on the air. The problem?
It wasn’t.

Wrestlezone.com is reporting that Ross had no idea that spot was going to happen, and later he admitted that he was embarrassed by the situation.
And, here we go again.
How many more times is Jim Ross going to be used, put on the spot, and be taken advantage of whenever the need arises?
Two weeks ago, I wrote a column stating my objection to JR being accosted by Mark Henry in the ring. I was criticized by some fans who pointed out that it got Mark some great heat, and that Ross is all about business.
OK, I can respect that.
But, my whole point was that it’s such cheap heat using JR in that way, Mark Henry is plenty enough over as it is, no reason to involve a commentator who cannot defend himself.
But, looking back, at least he knew it was coming.
Remember when Ross was traded to SmackDown? The Titantron was ticking away, flashing up one Superstar after another, until, low and behold, there was JR’s pic, and the words “traded to SmackDown.”
A shocking moment, as the voice of Monday Night Raw was on his way to the B program of the company.
Yeah, he didn’t know about that move either.
Supposedly, Raw was being re-written as the night went on Monday, and Ross’s firing was just another spur of the moment decision, thrown in for seemingly no good reason.
Or was it?
When Triple H was removed from his position of running Raw earlier in the night, and the talent supposedly entered the arena from the parking lot, something every odd happened.
Jim’s entrance theme hit, and as the Oklahoma crowd stood up in response to “Boomer Sooner,” I heard a reaction that I never thought I would hear.
I heard some boo’s.
The moment it happened, I realized why. It’s because he walked out last week.
Never let it be said the pro wrestling storylines are not still very effective.
The talent walked out on not only Triple H, but the fans also. That is what was sold as the reality on RAW, and after spending a week reflecting on that, a good segment of fans seemed to very much agree with that notion.
So, what better way to get Ross over with his own home crowd again by publicly firing him?
Well, to be honest, if that was indeed the plan, isn’t that a bit extreme? Couldn’t Laurinaitis have just come out and insulted him, getting him the sympathy pop from the crowd? Was terminating him on live television really the way to go?
OK, here’s the deal. This is WWE. It’s all planned, all written ahead of time. Jim Ross is a valuable asset to the company, and he’s likely not going anywhere. This is all storyline. I get that.
I’m only saying that I feel it’s a shame that, once again, Jim Ross is being used in this way. It’s a real shame. So, what happens now? Here’s an idea, surprise him in a good way next time.
The Raw General Manager job is available. Just saying.
