Week 6 Waiver Wire: Doug Baldwin and 3 WRs To Avoid

Richard LangfordOct 11, 2011

Doug Baldwin and the following three receivers are generating some waiver-wire buzz, however, they all need to be avoided.

Their situations do not indicate continued fantasy production.

Most Improved Defenses Ahead of NFL Training Camp

The Seahawks have had very few snaps with Williams and Rice healthy this season. This will undoubtedly cut into his targets. Also, Baldwin's games of 80-plus yards have come against the 49ers, Falcons and Giants—three poor pass defenses.

Baldwin did not produce in this last game until backup Whitehurst came in. Whitehurst was no doubt more comfortable with Baldwin as they practiced together. Obamanu got the start over Baldwin on Sunday.

Baldwin will be the fourth or at the best third WR when the Seahawks come back from their bye and they are going to be playing better pass defenses.

Baldwin will be an afterthought in this offense and the passing offense is going to have a hard time moving the ball to begin with.

Dallas Cowboys WR Laurent Robinson

The Cowboys starting receivers are finally healthy. This is going to lead to a greatly reduced role for Robinson.

Robinson put up some big numbers in the Cowboys' last game as he had seven catches off of 10 targets.

However, with Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and TE Jason Witten all healthy Robinson is going to have a hard time getting anywhere near this number of targets.

Detroit Lions WR Titus Young

Titus Young is a tantalizing grab on the waiver wire. He is the No. 2 wide receiver for the Lions and the defense can't pay much attention to him with Calvin Johnson on the other side.

However, this offense's passing game starts with Johnson, TE Brandon Pettigrew and RB Jahvid Best. This leaves Titus Young to pick up the leftovers with fellow receiver Nate Burleson.

What really hurts Young is the fact that when the Lions get to the red zone Matt Stafford looks for Calvin Johnson as his first, second and third option.
