Fantasy Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 6: Who Are the Week's Smartest Matchup Plays?
It’s hard to believe that Week 5 has already come and gone. As we turn the corner into Week 6, fantasy owners have a general feel of the players they have. Who are the ones that should be starting this week? Who are the ones worth sitting?
Through the next few slides, there will be some options for those fantasy owners to decide who they should bench or play.
START: Tom Brady Against Dallas Cowboys
1 of 8Tom Brady's fantasy numbers were not too great since that loss in Buffalo. He threw four interceptions in the game against the Bills. Last week, he threw for 321 yards and a touchdown plus an interception. Because the Patriots have discovered a good running game, Brady didn't have to rely on his throwing arm.
Brady should start this week since his opponent is the Dallas Cowboys. They have a pretty good rushing defense and will force him to throw the ball. This may be the game where we will see everything we expect from Brady.
SIT: Mark Sanchez Against Miami Dolphins
2 of 8The New York Jets didn’t play as aggressive against the Patriots last week, and Sanchez threw for 166 yards, only attempting 26 passes. The Jets appear to be more in a “running the ball” mood lately.
Mark Sanchez might have a mediocre showing next Monday night.
START: Adrian Peterson Against Chicago Bears
3 of 8With the show Adrian Peterson put up last Sunday, he definitely is a starter this week against the Chicago Bears.
Peterson put up some good numbers last week against the Arizona Cardinals. Even with an ankle injury, he ran for 122 yards and three touchdowns.
The Bears defense have allowed an average of 135.6 rushing yards a game and in their recent Monday night game, they allowed Jahvid Best to run for an 88-yard touchdown. They are struggling with their injuries and if the Vikings watch the tape, they might be able to use Peterson well.
SIT: Donovan McNabb Against Chicago Bears
4 of 8Donovan McNabb showed no accuracy in the Vikings win last week against Arizona. He threw for only for 149 yards and no touchdowns. He completed only 10 of his 21 attempted passes.
The head coach of Minnesota shows no sign of relieving McNabb of his starting quarterback position. Facing the Chicago Bears' defense and Julius Peppers, McNabb is not going to be firing up any numbers for fantasy owners.
START: Fred Jackson Against New York Giants
5 of 8Fred Jackson was a fantasy stud last week against the Eagles. He ran and received for 196 yards and scored one touchdown.
Facing the New York Giants this upcoming week, his rushing numbers will be high as the Giants are 21st in rushing defense. He receives the majority of the carries with the Bills, so he'll be churning out yards.
SIT: Arian Foster Against Baltimore Ravens
6 of 8A hip injury kept Arian Foster out a couple games this season so he hasn't been putting up good numbers for these fantasy owners. While last week, he had a career-high of receiving for 116 yards, he didn’t get much of a rushing game against the Raiders.
Against one of the best defenses in the NFL, Foster is going to have a hard time getting in any runs or catching any passes from Matt Schaub.
Sit him out.
START: Calvin Johnson Against San Francisco 49ers
7 of 8Did anyone see that 73-yard catch by Calvin Johnson in the Monday Night Football game against Chicago? He caught five passes for a total of 130 yards. Johnson continues to prove that while he may be guarded, he’ll find a way to get the ball.
Doesn’t matter who his opponent is, Johnson will give his fantasy owners good numbers this week.
SIT: Santonio Holmes Against Miami Dolphins
8 of 8Santonio Holmes only had four catches last week against the Patriots but then again, the Jets only attempted 26 passes. Holmes doesn't seem like he's going to be the No. 1 wide receiver next week against Miami, especially since Derrick Mason, another WR for the Jets, had his playing time cut to allow Jeremy Kerley, a rookie WR, a chance to play.
Struggling to be the captain of the team, Holmes' fantasy numbers may struggle as well.
