NFL Picks Week 6: St. Louis Rams and 4 Teams That Don't Stand a Chance

Mike MoraitisOct 11, 2011

Sometimes in the NFL, you have certain matchups that are just too easy to guess which way they will go.

Week 6 is no different.

You can take a look at a team's stats and progress this early in the season and gauge how well they will do against the other team they play based on that team's numbers until this point as well.

There will be some of the best teams in football going up against some of the worst, which makes picking some of the games an easy task this week. Not to mention, some of the team's I am picking against have glaring weaknesses that happen to be the strength of the team they are facing.

Offensive domination is the theme in these picks for the most part, and here are four teams that stand absolutely no chance of winning in Week 6 of the NFL season.

St. Louis Rams

1 of 4

Before the 2011 season started, Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams had high hopes coming into their third season with coach Steve Spagnuolo at the helm. Expectations had them at least winning their own division, the NFC West.

After their first four games, those same expectations are beginning to disappear, and the Rams are looking like they will be in contention for the top pick in next year's draft.

It won't get any easier in Week 6 for St. Louis, as they will head into Lambeau Field to take on the 5-0 Green Bay Packers.

With a shotty secondary at best, the Rams will stand no chance against the best quarterback in the NFL, Aaron Rodgers. Not to mention, with a near let down loss to the Falcons, expect the Packers to come out much sharper in this one.

St. Louis' horrendous offensive line has done a terrible job blocking for Sam Bradford and Steven Jackson, making the Rams offense look pathetic on a good day. The Pack should have no problem shutting down the Rams offense and will put plenty of points on the board.

The Rams will have their work cut out for them in trying to knock off the best team in football being one of the worst teams in football.

The Rams aren't the only team in Week 6 with a mountain to climb. Here are three other teams that are guaranteed to lose in Week 6 of the NFL season.

Jacksonville Jaguars

2 of 4

After a Week 1, 35-7 beat down at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens, the Pittsburgh Steelers have won their last three of four games and laid the smack down on the then 3-1 Tennessee Titans last week.

In Week 6, the Steelers will be up against one of the worst teams in all of football, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jaguars come into this game 1-4 and have a rookie quarterback behind center, a fact that doesn't bode well for the Jags going up against the Steelers who have the best passing defense in the league. No doubt Blaine Gabbert will get hit and often, making it a long day of pressure for the rookie quarterback.

The Jaguars' defense will also have it's hands full, playing a team in the Steelers who are coming off a 38-point explosion against the Titans, a team ranked right behind Jacksonville in defense this season.

The Steelers seemed to have righted their ship after the poor Week 1 showing and are clicking on all cylinders. They come into this showdown with the Jags hot and should have no problem disposing of Jacksonville en route to their fourth win of the season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

3 of 4

48-3?!

That was exactly my thought process when I checked the final score between the San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after their Week 5 matchup. It certainly wasn't the performance of a 3-1 team, which Tampa Bay was.

The 49ers aren't exactly the most imposing offensive team in the league, so it was surprising they would score that many points against the Bucs.

That being said, it won't get any easier for Tampa Bay as they will square off against the New Orleans Saints in Week 6 of the NFL season.

Alex Smith is no Drew Brees, but Smith's success against the Bucs defense will mean that an elite quarterback like Brees should have a field day against the Bucs 20th ranked pass defense.

That will mean a ton of points for the Saints second ranked passing offense, something that will be tough to match for the Bucs "middle of the pack" offense. Being ranked 23rd against the run, the Saints will also be able to move the ball on the ground, creating all sorts of headaches for the Bucs defense.

The Bucs will have quite the task on their hands in Week 6 and will need some showing if they want to hand the Saints their second loss of the season.

Cleveland Browns

4 of 4

One of the surprise teams so far in the 2011 NFL season is the Oakland Raiders. Darren McFadden is proving his top draft pick status by running all over any team he has played against this season.

On the other hand, the Cleveland Browns have the 25th ranked rush defense in the NFL, something that is alarming when going up against a running back like Darren McFadden who is the head of the 2nd best rushing attack in all of football.

An early MVP candidate, McFadden should have no problem dominating the Browns on the ground and in turn, will open up the Raiders' pass attack when the Browns find themselves playing heavy against the run.

The Browns come into this game with the fourth best pass defense in the league which may be surprising, but looking at it more closely, they haven't played a top-notch quarterback this season, making it likely those numbers are mostly a mirage.

Neither team should be impressive on the defensive side of the ball, but the Raiders explosive running game will be way too much for Cleveland to overcome in this one. Look for the Raiders to improve their record to 4-2 with a win over the Browns.
