NFL Predictions Week 6: New York Jets Will Pitch a Shutout vs. Dolphins on MNF
Because I watch a lot of ESPN, my current understanding of the New York Jets is that they are a bunch of hopeless losers who spend their spare time plotting mutinies in the bowels of MetLife Stadium.
In reality, things aren't that bad. Sure, the Jets have lost three games in a row in embarrassing fashion, but those three games were on the road against three of the best teams in the league. Surely losing them is not such a crime.
It's not, and the good news is that the Jets have an extra day of rest before their next game, which will take place on Monday night against the Miami Dolphins.

This is also good news. As bad the Jets look right now, the Dolphins look 10 times worse. They're 0-4 on the season, they're headed by a doomed head coach in Tony Sparano, and Chad Henne's season-ending injury forced them to go out and sign Sage Rosenfels.
The Dolphins won't have to rely on Rosenfels right away, as they will instead rely on Matt Moore.
In case you're wondering, this is indeed the same Matt Moore who had a QB rating of 55.6 in six games with the Carolina Panthers last season. In his only action this season, Moore wasn't much better against the San Diego Chargers. He threw for 167 yards, but had no touchdowns and an interception.
On Monday night, Moore will be tasked with going up against a Jets defense that is not nearly as bad as the media would have you believe. Even after facing Tom Brady, the Jets are fifth in the NFL against the pass, and they have allowed just three touchdown passes all season.
Naturally, this will likely mean more work for Daniel Thomas, who should be good to go after missing Miami's Week 4 game against the Chargers. And because the Jets have had their issues against the run in recent weeks, you might think Thomas will be in for a big day.
But I doubt it. With Moore under center, the Jets will have every excuse to stack the box in an effort to stop Thomas and Reggie Bush. If their efforts work, the pressure will be on Moore to move the Dolphins' offense.
Unless Moore spent Miami's bye week seeking out the essence of Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady, I highly doubt he's going to be very effective. Yards are going to be at a premium for the Dolphins on Monday night.
And so will points. If I had to guess, Monday night's contest will be a lot like the Jets' win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2, in which they surrendered just three points and 203 total yards.
That was against a bad Jacksonville offense, and Miami's is even worse. Moreover, we can probably take it for granted that the Jets are not going to take it easy on the Dolphins after the three weeks they just had.
So I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Jets are not going to allow a single point on Monday night. They're not a perfect team, but they'll be at home for the first time in three weeks against a very bad Dolphins team. If ever there was an excuse for the Jets to dominate, that's it.
If they don't, they'll go back to plotting mutinies.
