Nicholas GossOct 10, 2011

Roster planning for Week 6 of the fantasy football season has begun, and Week 5 showed us several quarterbacks who are worthy of adding in your league to help with bye weeks.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Curtis Painter finally took control of the offense after struggling many times in his career, so much that the Colts brought in veteran QB Kerry Collins to start the season.

Let's look at three quarterbacks to get you through the Week 6 bye weeks.

1) Curtis Painter

Painter threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions in a Week 5 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and finally proved he's capable of handling the multitude of weapons at his disposal.

He made good use of receivers Pierre Garcon and Reggie Wayne, along with tight end Dallas Clark. This was a big confidence boosting game for Painter, and he is a solid choice to fill in for a bye week this Sunday.

2) Andy Dalton

Dalton should be available in leagues that start one quarterback, and the "Red Rifle" had another impressive game for the Cincinnati Bengals yesterday, throwing for 179 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Dalton has thrown for 298 yards and 332 yards in a game this season, and is certainly capable of getting you good points this week as a replacement for a bye week QB or an injured one.

3) Alex Smith

The San Francisco 49ers are 4-1 and quarterback Alex Smith is a major reason why. The former No. 1 overall draft pick is finally becoming a very good QB, and he threw three touchdowns yesterday.

Smith is a very smart QB too, and has thrown only one interception this season.

He is a good option for bye weeks, and is even an OK choice as your starting QB spot every week.
