Ohio State Football: Braxton Miller Injury Update, What It Means to Buckeyes
The Ohio State Buckeyes were playing their most impressive game of the season last Saturday against the highly ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers. They had a 20-6 lead going into the half and everything seemed to be going well as the Buckeyes were only 30 minutes away from their most impressive win of the season.
However, if you've been keeping up on this Ohio State team this year, you would've known it was too good to be true. In the third quarter freshman quarterback Braxton Miller went down with a sprained ankle and then the entire Buckeyes team went down as they ended up losing 34-27.
Senior quarterback Joe Bauserman completed just 1-of-10 for 13 yards and threw an interception, the Buckeyes defense gave up 28 unanswered points and the team is now sitting with an embarrassing 3-3 record (0-2 within the conference).
As of right now Miller is questionable for next weeks game against Illinois. The good news is it is a sprained ankle and should only miss a week or two at the most.
The bad news is Bauserman is absolutely terrible and it's hard seeing the Buckeyes win against either Illinois or Wisconsin with him under center.
Miller hasn't exactly been the greatest at quarterback, but at least he can make plays with his feet. He is also a freshman that is gaining much-needed experience as this nightmare of a season goes on.
Ohio State wide receiver DeVier Posey has also been suspended for the next five games for accepting extra money while working at his summer job.
Posey is one of the top wide receivers in the country and would have helped the Buckeyes' brutal passing game. You can forget about that for majority of the season.
Ohio State is now entering the most difficult part of its schedule with games against Illinois, Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan.
It's not just the Miller injury that will hurt this team, it's a combination of everything. This team can't catch a break.
Things will continue to get worse before they get better.
