WWE Analysis: Can the United Kingdom Become the New Evolution?
In terms of promoting talent, Evolution was undoubtedly the greatest faction in professional wrestling history.
The stable had Triple H as its present, Ric Flair as it past, and Batista and Randy Orton as its future. These four men dominated the WWE and carried a serious amount of gold during their time.
But with the company currently lacking any sort of legitimate heel force, perhaps a new faction should be in the works. Perhaps a new version of Evolution should hit the scene.
For that, we look to Wade Barrett, William Regal, Mason Ryan and Drew McIntyre. Together, these gentlemen can form The United Kingdom.
(The faction name, The United Kingdom, is derived from WWE '12 video game.)
Wade Barrett as Triple H
1 of 4With the "Barrett Barrage" picking up steam, it looks as if Wade is right in the middle of a main-event push.
Barrett has been chalking up W's and has consistently received promo time just about every week. He even pinned Randy Orton at Survivor Series to pick up the win for his team.
We all know Barrett has the in-ring ability and mic skills to take on a top heel role in the company. It's just a matter of time and build until he does.
As soon as he becomes that kind of force, Wade would serve as the Triple H of this faction. He would be the "present" of the group and carry a major strap just as Hunter did.
William Regal as Ric Flair
2 of 4Although William Regal's legacy isn't in the same ballpark as Ric Flair's, he would act as the "past" of the faction.
Like Naitch, Regal is the elder statesman of the group. He would be there to provide advice as well as a managerial role for the other three, more exclusively for Barrett.
Given that William Regal has been shunned by the company for quite some time now, I believe he does deserve something. Some want a heavyweight title run for him and some want perhaps a GM job for him.
However, serving as the Flair of this faction certainly makes the most sense.
Mason Ryan as Batista
3 of 4This comparison has been made ever since Mason Ryan stepped into a WWE ring.
Just like Batista, Ryan is huge, huge and huge. They both aren't exactly great as far as in-ring work goes, but they do have the look Vince McMahon is extremely fond of.
Ryan would be the enforcer of the faction until he finally breaks out to become a main-event talent.
Drew McIntyre as Randy Orton
4 of 4Speaking of fondness and Mr. McMahon, Drew McIntyre comes in to serve as the Randy Orton of the group.
McIntyre is pretty much a carbon copy of the former Legend Killer. Orton and McIntyre are great in the ring, they have a championship feel to them and they both have a boring personality. That last one may not be so flattering, but it's true.
However, Drew does have a bit of an edge over Orton. Early in his career, Orton did not exhibit good mic skills. (Refer to his announcement of Eugene fighting for the World Heavyweight Title.)
Drew isn't exactly Jake Roberts or Mick Foley on the mic, but his promo skills are far better than Orton's at the younger stage of their tenures.
McIntyre would run a few Intercontinental titles reigns as well as a tag-team championship or two with fellow faction-mate Mason Ryan.
