BCS Rankings Predictions: Wisconsin and 3 Sleeper National Championship Hopefuls
The AP Top 25 and USA Today polls have come out today and these will be the last polls that come out without the BCS rankings alongside of them.
As expected, the AP Top 10 had no change and Florida and Florida State were the only teams to fall out of the polls completely.
Change is going to start happening rapidly after the first version of the BCS rankings is released. We have landscape altering games this weekend as well.
No. 11 Michigan takes on No. 23 Michigan State, No. 20 Baylor against No. 21 Texas A&M, No. 6 Oklahoma State at No. 22 Texas, as well as a bunch of other good matchups between ranked teams and those on the bubble.
After the BCS rankings come out, we will see LSU take on Auburn and Wisconsin at Michigan State. Those games alone could alter the national championship picture and BCS bowl participants.
Let’s take a look at three teams that really stand to benefit from the BCS system if they continue to win.
Wisconsin
The Big Ten finally has a title game this year and it looks like Wisconsin is the hands-down early favorite to win it.
The team is good enough to get past anyone on their schedule and already had their toughest battle against Nebraska.
I foresee the winner of the Big 10 Championship taking on the winner of the SEC Championship for the national title and Wisconsin is very likely going to be the Big 10 team. They just need to make sure they soundly win out the rest of the way.
Oklahoma State
The Pokes take on the Oklahoma Sooners to end their season in what will be the de facto Big 12 championship game.
Unfortunately, the conference no longer has divisions and it really looks like both the Cowboys and Sooners are going to roll into that December 3 matchup undefeated.
If some other teams stumble along the way, OK State could easily get into the national championship game by winning out.
Stanford
The Pac-12 is ridiculously soft this season and Stanford is by far the best team in it. They have a looming match with Oregon on Nov. 12, and it seems that both teams aren’t going to lose until then.
If they are able to win out and take down the Pac-12 Championship, Stanford should be able to get in, even over a one-loss SEC team.
