BCS Rankings Projections 2011: Oklahoma State and 3 Surprise BCS-Bound Schools
The BCS rankings are going to available in just two short weeks, and it’s clear now after six weeks of college football just what teams are ready to make a BCS bowl.
Besides the obvious choices like Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma and Wisconsin, there have been a number of other schools sneaking towards the top that no one really expected.
Let’s take a look at these three sleeper schools that could very likely find themselves BCS bound at the end of the season.
Oklahoma State
The Pokes have been putting up points all year and got a huge win last week over ranked and rival Texas A&M. They came back from a huge deficit and proved they won’t quit and deserve to be near the top of the coaches and AP Poll.
They beat up on an easy Kansas Jayhawks team this week, 70-28, and should maintain or possibly move up if anything prior to the first BCS poll.
I don’t see this team going anywhere, and even a loss to OU at the end of the season should still have this group headed to one of the BCS bowl games.
Clemson
This team is assassinating Top 20 programs left and right who dare stand in its way.
The Tigers knocked out Auburn, Florida State and Virginia Tech in back-to-back-to-back weeks and beat up on Boston College this week for good measure.
Clemson has a huge game against ranked Georgia Tech on Oct. 29, which should determine who wins the ACC and its BCS chances. I see the Tigers taking it down and heading to a top bowl game.
Michigan
No one expected Brady Hoke to turn Michigan’s defense into a top unit after a bottom-dwelling season for the team last year.
Well, he has and it certainly has made a difference for this Wolverines’ team.
Denard Robinson is having a Heisman-worthy season as the leader of this team, and the Wolverines are a very likely team to join the BCS bowls, most likely as an at-large.
Michigan football is just too big and attractive to pass up if it keeps winning like this.
