20 Fantasy Football Studs and Duds from Week 13
Getting to it a little late this week. Week 13 was the last regular season week for many fantasy football leagues. Anyone rise you to the top or drag you down?
Personally I dropped form a No. 1 seed to No. 4 in a couple weeks because of some of my guys busting. Here are the Studs and Duds from Week 13…

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
QB: Donovan McNabb, Eagles
After the famous benching a week earlier McNabb comes out and has best game fo the season. Four TD’s and 260 yards in the air, another 24 on the ground. Things begin to look a little more bleak again this week as the Eagles play the Giants? Maybe not. He did post three TD’s against them earlier in the season.
RB: Brian Westbrook, Eagles
Another Eagle who has found himself on both sides of Studs and Duds this season. Westy accounted for four TD’s himself, two on the ground and two in the air. Add on 130 total yards and three receptions, you have the top fantasy player of the week here kids. He did not fair as well the last time out against the Giants. Only 59 total yards with no scores.
RB: DeAngelo Williams, Panthers:
Williams has carried his weight further into the season than many expected at the start. He was supposed to be giving the ball over to Jonathan Stewart by now. Although he is sharing he still got 21 carries, four of them for TD’s against the Packers. His last outing against the Bucs only got him 27 yards rushing.
WR: Mark Clayton, Ravens
What can we say? If you started him you must have been very, very, surprised. I was and he was on the other team (see above mentioned falling from No. 1 seed to No. 4). A passing TD, 164 yards receiving and a TD off five receptions.
WR: Greg Jennings, Packers
Jennings is a stud, all there is too it. This season he was supposed to take a step back when that one guy left. Owners that did take him have got solid performances out of him almost every week this season. It will be interesting to see how his fantasy football draft stock changes from this season to 2009.
TE: Jason Witten, Cowboys
The return of Witten. Watching the game on Thanksgiving it appeared that every ball that Tony Romo threw was to Jason Witten. Well, it was only nine of them. They were good for 115 yards and a TD.
Perfect time for him to come back with the fantasy playoffs heating up. Next game is against the Steelers though…not so good. They have been making people look stupid.
DT/ST: Baltimore Ravens
The return of the Ravens. By return I mean they are looking like that the D that we think of when the word Ravens is brought up. A score, four sacks, held them to three points, under 200 yards. What’s not to like in a Team Defense/Special teams?
INDIVIDUAL DEFENSIVE PLAYERS (IDP)
LB: Bradie James, Cowboys
Bradie James had an IDP monster game on Turkey day. 12 tackles alone is huge. Add on a forced fumble, a pass defensed, an assist, and two sacks and you have IDP bliss.
DL: Mario WIlliams, Texans
If you watched the Monday night game you may have noticed how they pointed out how the Texans passed on Vince Young and Reggie Bush and took Williams No. 1 in the draft…and how now they look like geniuses. Well, they do right now…with that anyway.
Five tackles, three sacks, an assist and a forced fumble is way over performing for a DL in many IDP leagues. Way to use your draft pick!
DB: Eric Weddle, Chargers
Weddle has quietly become the top defensive back for IDP in 2008. This week he racked up seven tackles and three assists. He also added a fumble recovery for a TD. That is good. He has been solid all season.
TEAM DUD
QB: Peyton Manning, Colts
Manning backers and fantasy footballers alike were not happy in the preseason when we dropped Manning out of the Top three fantasy QB’s. Someone actually swore at me over it.
Someone at Bleacher Report said they couldn’t wait to tell me that they told me so (don’t think that is going to be coming). Regardless of the preseason knee stuff, Manning and the Colts have just not been themselves this season. It continued this week with 125 yards and two INT’s…against the Browns.
RB: Clinton Portis, Redskins
Portis only go 12 chances to make things happen for you last week. His neck took him out and they have the ravens coming up. Not looking good for the playoffs. Thirty-seven total yards…yikes.
RB: Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars
Mojo was not able to get it working as well as we would have liked on Monday night. He did put up 49 yards on the ground and another 22 yards on in the air, but he lost a fumble as well and could not find the end zone. This may have been what held some people out of the fantasy playoffs.
WR: Anquan Boldin, Cardinals
Five receptions for 63 yards, eight rushing yards and a lost fumble. These games happen but not what you were likely expecting out of the top fantasy WR in 2008. I’m going to guess that he will bounce back from this.
WR: Plaxico Burress, Giants
We can take injuries in fantasy football. You don’t like it but it is part of the game. There are bad games, we have to take that too. What you likely cannot take is one of your players selfishly thinking more of himself than your fantasy numbers by playing Annie Oakley and carrying a gun around…and then Barney Fife like shooting himself.
TE: Bo Scaife, Titans
Scaife has quietly become a Top 10 TE in fantasy football. Right, it’s not the strongest position, but still. One would have hoped for more than one catch for eight yards against the Lions. Actually, one would be disappointed with less than 20 fantasy points out of any of your players against the Lions.
DT/ST: New York Jets
The Jets D was destroyed by the Broncos this last week, allowing 484 yards and 34 points. An example of not good.
INDIVIDUAL DEFENSIVE PLAYERS (IDP)
LB: Gary Brackett, Colts
Brackett didn’t play like a bust…but he was a Dud because he left points on the board when he had to leave the game. He had two tackles and an assist already when he had to leave. This had to hurt anyone who started him as he is a Top 10 LB.
DL: Trent Cole, Eagles
After three solid straight weeks, Cole bottoms out with a one tackle, one pass defensed game. You still want him on your roster as these games a re very few and far between.
DB: Antoine Winfield, Vikings
Not the most terrible game, two tackles and two passes defensed. We are just more conditioned to expect more from Winfield as he usually puts up solid numbers.
