Tim Sylvia's Newest Scheme to Regain Glory
While scrolling through the MMA news today, I came across an article in MMAMania (along with the above picture), which seems like an early April Fool's joke.
According to their report, Tim Sylvia is requesting a fight with Ken Shamrock, a man almost old enough to be his father.
This scheme just seems so desperate. Is it an attempt to seek attention? A cry for help? Or is Tim actually serious? All I have is a bunch of questions.
Having lost three of his last four fights, with his last one being a tap-out to a rear naked choke at 36 seconds into the first round of his fight with Fedor Emelianenko, it is possible that Tim suffered brain damage from lack of oxygen. (Of course I am joking here.)
Ken Shamrock was accidentally saved from being a victim of the now extinct Elite XC organization's bread winner Kimbo Slice, or as I prefer, Kevin Ferguson, due to a cut obtained just hours before they were due to fight.
The cut raised many questions about where Ken Shamrock's head was at, since very few professionals obtain such injuries while warming up for a huge fight which is to be televised.
Ken has taken more than a few blows to the head and could possibly be feeling the effects of early onset dementia. Certainly stranger things have happened to aging fighters, but not that often.
Could Tim be attempting a comeback by taking advantage of an elder legend of the sport?
Yes, actually, he might be tempted to do that. Nothing else seems to be going well for him since defecting from the UFC for presumably greener pastures and greater glory—oops, he sort of missed that part.
Well, from the comments the article received, the majority of fans would not put wanting to fight a past his prime legend who is in a lighter weight class past Tim.
Yes, he could say he had beaten a legend, assuming he wins said fight. But wouldn't he feel a little funny saying such a thing under the circumstances?
I guess it's like one commenter said: "You can't always believe what you read on the Internet."
Although in this case, who knows?
