Arsenal Transfer News: Has Arsenal Become a Training Team for Future Stars?

Adam HartOct 4, 2011

After the fallout of the Arsenal squad during the transfer window, the team is left with bits and pieces of it's former greatness.

Many of their players have moved on to better teams, leaving Arsenal searching for their replacements. Most recently, they have lost captain Fabregas to Barcelona and playmaker Nasri to Manchester City.

There has also been speculation over the possible transfer of the current captain, Van Persie, to City.

We also found out earlier today that starting keeper Szczesny has had interest in joining the Spanish giants Barcelona. He told ESPN he is happy at Arsenal, yet doesn't wish to spend his whole career there. He also reassured that a move will not be made because of money, but because of personal progress.

Since his start at the Emirates, he has risen from an unheard player, to the starting keeper for the Polish national team and one of the top ten keepers in the world.

During Arsene Wenger's reign, he has taken young players and transformed them into potential stars. In many cases, after the players have improved, they moved to better teams and became amazing.

Such cases include Fabregas and Henry, who both moved to Barcelona after very successful careers at Arsenal. Nasri was a key player to Arsenal's midfield game, and has greatly improved City's chances of winning the EPL. Current players on Arsenal have shown interest in moving to better teams.

Is a pattern beginning to emerge?

Arsenal has become almost a training or beginning team for future stars. Players improve greatly while at Arsenal and then find a more successful team.

Many say this is one of the larger factors contributing to such a poor start to the new season. While it is certainly a factor, one must not forget that they are riddled with injuries extending from Wilshere to Sagna, both who happen to be out for a long period of time.

Wenger has different philosophies on how he should manage a team. Some of them have been greatly successful, while other have failed miserably.

In this new era of football, Wenger has to chose between two ways to manage a team: Either bring young players to the team and train them into stars, or open up the team's wallet and shell out for an already-great player.

Presently, Wenger is doing neither.

Until Wenger chooses one, Arsenal won't have a good shot at winning the EPL.
