NFL Picks Week 5: Philadelphia Eagles and 3 Teams Who Will Keep Disappointing

Adam WellsOct 4, 2011

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has had to deal with criticism throughout his tenure with the team. Now, as they find themselves at the bottom of the NFC East with a 1-3 record, it appears that hope is lost in the City of Brotherly Love.

Even though things have not gone as planned with the "Dream Team," there is still time for this team to turn things around. But they won't do it in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

Both teams enter the game coming off losses, but there was something about the way the Eagles lost to the 49ers that does not fill you with confidence that things are going to get better.

They were up by 20 points, at home, against a mediocre 49ers offense and could not hold the lead.

The Bills went on the road and got shutdown by a good Bengals defense.

Which team would you have more confidence in?

Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson are playing well, but no one else on the team is helping them out. The Eagles might get back into contention this season, but right now they do not look like a playoff team.

Bills 28, Eagles 20

Here are two more teams that will join the Eagles as disappointing teams in Week 5.

Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. Titans)

The Steelers are not used to being a disappointment. This is the preeminent franchise in the NFL, but they are playing like a broken team right now.

The defense has been struggling all season long. The run defense has fallen off a cliff in the early going of the season, giving up nearly 120 rush yards per game.

And now Ben Roethlisberger is limping around in a walking boot. He is expected to play this week, but how effective he will be remains to be seen.

The Titans have been playing well the last three weeks. Matt Hasselbeck is playing quarterback like it is 2005, and Chris Johnson is coming off his best game of the season last week.

All these things will make for a bad day in Pittsburgh this Sunday.

Titans 26, Steelers 17

Arizona Cardinals (vs. Minnesota)

Remember before the season started, and the Cardinals were crowned the champions of the NFC West by default?

Four weeks into the season, things are not working out the way that the team was hoping when it acquired Kevin Kolb to play quarterback.

Their offense ranks 18th in yards per game and 19th in points per game. Their defense ranks 24th in yards per game and 12th in points allowed.

The Vikings are not world beaters, by any means, but in a game between two bad teams you have to give the edge to the home team.

Plus, this team has not lost a game by more than seven points this season so they are due for a win. What better time to get that win than against the underachieving Cardinals.

Arizona's dreams of returning to the postseason are fading faster than Donovan McNabb's career.
