WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow Recap: 5 Best Moments of the Night
The WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow was in full effect last night, and Bleacher Report is here to break down the five best moments from the show.
Last night featured the fallout from Hell in a Cell, where Alberto Del Rio became the WWE champion, while The Miz and R-Truth hijacked the end of the show, and were taken away by police.
Raw was headlined by a 12-man tag team match featuring the big heels and faces from Raw and SmackDown, but it didn't close the show.
The show finished with a vote of confidence by the WWE employees for the WWE COO Triple H. We'll just say that Triple H has had better nights. That was the "key moment" of the show, but how did it stack up to the rest of the night? Check out the following slides to find out!
Happy Birthday John Morrison, Welcome to the Hall of Pain!
1 of 5Mark Henry had just came out on the losing end of a quick scrap with Randy Orton as he stood in the ring awaiting his opponent for the second match of the evening.
Surprisingly, it was John Morrison.
Unsurprisingly, he was inducted to the Hall of Pain.
The good news for JoMo here is, he actually did well despite Henry obviously needing someone to squash to maintain his monster image. He chopped down the champion, and hit Starship Pain before getting smashed with the World's Strongest Slam...twice.
I hope JoMo didn't find himself too damaged to prevent an afterparty for his birthday.
The Disgruntled Heels Air Their Issues with Triple H
2 of 5This moment holds weight with me not for being entertaining, but for being so revealing.
Vickie Guerrero led Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, David Otunga, Christian, Cody Rhodes and Alberto Del Rio to the ring, and they each took turns on the mic.
There was very little heat for the heels, that is, until we got to Vickie Guerrero. She drew more heat than all the wrestlers combined.
That's just...sad. The segment ended with Triple H coming out and saying he hopes they all fight in the main event, rather than whine. Overall, the segment accomplished nothing of worth and really felt like they were just wasting time.
When Michael Cole, of all people, says "What was accomplished there?" you know you're in trouble.
Santino Marella Returns Minus the Unibrow
3 of 5I know, I know. Santino? This high on the "Best Five" rankings?
What can I say, he battered my funny bone in his segment with Jinder Mahal.
Jinder Mahal was in the ring speaking Punjabi on the mic, and Santino made his way to the ring for their match. That's right, these two had a match on Raw.
Santino got on a mic and started speaking jibberish to Jinder, and ended with "yahtzee!" That's golden.
The match was quick, with Santino winning after hitting Jinder with the Cobra. Up to that point, I was trying to figure out why he looked so different—then I realized he was missing his unibrow!
I can only presume that he lost it in his car accident.
The WWE Superstars Have "No Confidence" in Triple H
4 of 5The chaos going on inside the WWE Universe finally caught up to Triple H in the closing segment of Raw.
Triple H defended recent actions and happenings in the WWE, but the locker room would have none of it.
Jerry Lawler made a surprise return for the segment, and was the first one to tell Triple H that he was walking out, which prompted all the other superstars to go along with him.
I felt like the segment dragged on a little bit, but one true moment in particular stands out.
The ringside cameramen placed their cameras and headsets down on the ring apron and walked out along with the wrestlers, creating a unique shot of Triple H standing alone in the ring as the WWE staff left.
The Crowded 12-Man Tag Team Match Steals the Show
5 of 5In what felt like a Survivor Series preview, faces clashed with heels in a surprisingly entertaining match.
Despite having so many bodies involved, the match didn't feel that crowded and the finish was wild and fun.
After an extended period of back-and-forth, a series of finishers between all the superstars began, with Sheamus closing the book with a Brogue Kick and getting the pin.
Something that stood out, CM Punk actually bothered to sell the Hell in a Cell damage. He was the only participant who bothered selling the brutal nature of the match, by being beaten up tonight.
The continuity might not matter to guys like Randy Orton, who didn't bother acting like he lost a Hell in a Cell match to Mark Henry of all people in his match on Raw, but I certainly appreciate that it matters to Punk.
