NFL Predictions Week 5: Philadelphia Eagles and 3 Teams Bound for a Rebound

Ryan RudnanskyOct 3, 2011

It's right about this time in the NFL season when people begin overreacting.

Whether a team's 0-4 or 4-0, one way or another fans and pundits alike will be screaming why Team X is better than Team Y.

But there's danger in overreacting because, frankly, it can come back to haunt you.

Here are three teams currently struggling that will rebound in Week 5 and confuse America even more.

Minnesota Vikings (0-4)

The Minnesota Vikings are 0-4, but they've lost by an average of 4.5 points through their first four games. Every game has been close, and they were actually leading the Detroit Lions at the half in Week 3, 20-10, before the Lions stormed back.

The Vikings are still in the bottom third of the league in my opinion, but they aren't as bad as their 0-4 record would indicate. Donovan McNabb has been better than his Week 1 debacle, and the Vikings still have one Adrian Peterson.

Against the 1-3 Arizona Cardinals, I like the Vikings at home.

Kansas City Chiefs (1-3)

A lot of people were down on the Chiefs after their 0-3 start, but it was hard for me to see them just collapsing after a 10-win season in 2010. The Chiefs have the same team as before, with the addition of receiver Steve Breaston, and they rebounded to an extent against the Vikings in Week 4, winning, 22-17.

In that game, quarterback Matt Cassel got back on track with Dwayne Bowe, and Breaston had four catches for 92 yards.

The Chiefs are still headed for a drop-off compared to 2010, but they play the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5, and we all know how bad the Colts have been minus Peyton Manning. I think the Chiefs win their second game in a row and Kansas City rejoices...albeit for one game.

Philadelphia Eagles (1-3)

Everyone was tabbing the Eagles to make a deep run in the postseason this year, and as soon as they struggle everyone hops off the bandwagon.

Sure, the Eagles have looked bad recently, their offensive line is troublesome and losing to the San Francisco 49ers in Philadelphia is enough to make even the most sane Eagles fan go crazy. But the fact of the matter is they still have tons of talent and it was inevitable that they would struggle in the early goings because they are still developing with new pieces on board.

Don't jump ship yet, folks. The Eagles will rebound with ferocity against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5.
