Week 4 Fantasy Football Rankings: Top 5 End Zone Loving RBs

Andrew KulhaOct 1, 2011

Fantasy football is about one simple concept, and if you don't understand it chances are you aren't winning.

Fantasy football is all about touchdowns.

Sure field goals, defensive stops, and yardage do come into play, but if your not scoring touchdowns chances are you aren't winning.

You can usually expect your quarterback to get you at least one or two touchdowns, and if you have a decent receiver they should probably get you one as well.

Running back seems to be the wild-card factor.

If they're on, it usually means lots of points for your team.

The problem is that when they're off your not getting those valuable points you need.

You want your running back to get in the end zone, it's that simple.

Yards are cute, but touchdowns are what make a winning fantasy team.

Here are my projected Top 5 touchdown scoring running backs for Week 4:

1. Ray Rice, Ravens:

The thing about Rice is that he is a threat to score on the ground or out of the backfield on a screen or some kind of pass in the flats. It's a simple equation for Rice. Somehow he is going to score, it's almost inevitable. The Ravens are lining up across from the Jets which may seem like a bad matchup, but New York is giving up about five yards per carry.

2. Adrian Peterson, Vikings:

For some reason the Vikings coaching staff just doesn't want to give the ball to Peterson in the second half. The fact remains that he is their best player and best chance to score, though. Anytime Peterson gets the ball he is going to do something positive with it.

3. Chris Johnson, Titans:

I don't have much to back this up besides my faith in Johnson. I simply cannot believe that Johnson is going to post four bad games in a row. Eventually he's going to have to break something off or at least score near the goal line. The averages are with Johnson at this point.

4. Fred Jackson, Bills:

I've spent every week so far betting against Jackson, Fitzpatrick and the rest of the Bills. Until they prove us right though, or in this case wrong, I have to believe that Jackson is one of the better backs in the league.

5. Matt Forte, Bears:

One way or another Forte is going to get in the end zone. He's an exceptional receiving threat and Jay Cutler is going to be looking his way a lot, especially considering his recent fears of the pocket.
