Week 4 Fantasy Football Projections: Rob Gronkowski and 3 Must-Start Tight Ends

Dan RenfroOct 1, 2011

Fantasy football tight ends are usually the toughest to pick. However, a good tight end can be a game-changer.

It's only Week 4, but there have already been some big-time performances from tight ends so far. I have a brief synopsis of the top three fantasy tight ends for this week. Feel free to let me know what you think.

Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots

After another two-touchdown performance, Gronkowski has solidified himself as a must-start every week. Yes, Aaron Hernandez might steal a touchdown from him from time to time. However, Hernandez has been ruled out for this weekend, so no reason to hold back now.

Plus, Tom Brady has been on fire. Despite throwing four interceptions last week, he still threw four touchdowns. As long as those points are available, you'll need to keep Gronkowski in your lineup.

Projection: Six receptions, 113 yards, one touchdown.

Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers

For similar reasons to Gronkowski, Finley is simply a favorite target for a great quarterback. No, he won't get three touchdowns every week, but that is always a possibility.

As long as Rodgers is throwing the ball, Finley will be there, especially in the red zone. I think he'll have a solid encore performance after last week.

Projection: Five receptions, 86 yards, two touchdowns.

Owen Daniels, Houston Texans

It's usually risky to pick Daniels because Andre Johnson is usually the main target in the red zone (as he should be). However, the check-downs will be coming in bunches this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

They will be bringing pressure, and Matt Schaub will need to get the ball out early. Daniels will be his target early and often.

Projection: Eight receptions, 67 yards, one touchdown.
