Rose, Rondo, Paul, Westbrook or Williams: Who's the Best PG in the NBA Today?
Sports debates are some of the most fun and passionate discussions you can have. The question posed in the title of this article is one that may render different answers depending on the region of the country the answer is coming from.
This is not a measure of career accomplishments. We all know Jason Kidd, Steve Nash and Chauncey Billups are future Hall of Famers. Still, none of these three are among the best point guards in the NBA today.
John Wall hasn't quite ascended to that level either, but he is certainly on his way. I ranked the top five point men in the following categories: speed, quickness, vision, ball-handling, pure-shooting, clutch performing, finishing, passing accuracy, point guard instincts, scoring ability, rebounding and defense.
Some of the categories are similar, but in my opinion they offer some slight differences that give certain players an edge.
The five point guards I chose are the reigning MVP and Chicago Bulls' star, Derrick Rose, New Jersey Nets' Deron Williams, New Orleans Hornets' Chris Paul, Boston Celtics' Rajon Rondo and Oklahoma City Thunders' Russell Westbrook.
These guys are the cream of the crop. As I did in my LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan comparison, I used NBA2K11 to depict the examples of each player as I discuss their skill level in each category.
Again, I am not using the game to determine my opinion. It is only used a medium to display the evaluation.
