Wes Welker: Why He Will Keep Up His Record Setting Pace
Tom Brady isn't the only Patriot on a record-breaking pace. His favorite target, Wes Welker, is also on what you might call a bit of a tear.
After today's 217 yard performance, Welker is averaging over 150 yards per game receiving. If he keeps that up for the season, he would demolish Jerry Rice's record of 1,848 yards in one year.
Now, I'm not saying that Welker is going to keep up this torrid of a pace, but what I am saying is that Jerry Rice should be worried.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It sounds like sacrilege, but the way the Patriots are throwing the ball right now and the amount of targets that other teams need to worry about, this could be the perfect situation for a guy like Welker to do something special.
This is not a fluke. Welker has been a reception machine for the past few years. He's a slot receiver with a lot of speed after he catches the ball, and the kind of routes the Pats run set him up perfectly to just rack up a ton of yards game after game.
And don't get me wrong, this is just as much about Tom Brady as it is about Welker. Brady is absolutely locked in right now, despite his four interceptions today. New England is going to be throwing the ball a ton this year and Welker just happens to be the favorite target of a quarterback who just may break the record for passing yards in a season.
If you're not ready for a guy like Wes Welker to be mentioned in the same sentence as a guy like Jerry Rice, you'll have a whole year to prepare yourself, because this really might happen.
