UFC 135 Results: 4 Fantasy Fights for Jon Jones
Jon Jones systematically destroyed Rampage Jackson at UFC 135 and added another top-tier fighter to his impressively growing resume.
After dominating both Jackson and Shogun Rua in his last couple fights, the remaining potential opponents for the current light heavyweight champion are looking more and more like a list of future victims.
Luckily, Jones still has a few more fights that would capture the imagination of both fans and the MMA media alike. While most of these aren’t possible yet, there is a possibility that all of these fights could be made in the near future.
Rashad Evans
1 of 4This fight is about to become a reality, and it is probably the last true test that Jones will face at 205 for quite some time.
As a former training partner of Jones, he is the only fighter out there who knows exactly what to expect while dealing with Jones’ reach and unpredictability, and his wrestling is good enough that he could give Jones some problems if he can get the fight to the ground.
Cain Velasquez
2 of 4Dana White said that he has spoken to Jones about possibly taking heavyweight fights, and there is no bigger fight to make than Jones versus Velasquez.
Velasquez has some heavy hands and solid wrestling, which would seemingly make him an even matchup with Jones. And unlike a lot of other heavyweights, the size advantage he would have over Jones wouldn’t be overwhelming.
Anderson Silva
3 of 4This fight is the one fans will be clamoring for if Jones wins another fight as impressively as he did this one, and Dana White would be insane not to consider it.
Jones has been the most impressive fighter in the UFC since he debuted, a claim that can only be challenged by Silva, and a superfight between the two would earn some ridiculous PPV buys for Zuffa.
Brock Lesnar
4 of 4The most well-known fighter in MMA, Lesnar is guaranteed to draw viewers no matter who he fights, but a superfight with Jones would be a huge potential matchup for the UFC.
Lesnar would make Jones look small for the first time in his career, and it would be interesting to see if Jones could keep Lesnar off of him for an extended period of time.
This isn’t the most important fight the UFC could make, but it is easily the most marketable.
