UFC 135: A Chance for Quinton Jackson to Finally Grow Up Win or Lose
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has a nickname that perfectly fits his personality because it always seems like he is throwing a fit.
Whether it is groping female reporters inappropriately as seen in his now famous interview here, or threatening an interviewer with physical violence here, it is safe to say it seems like Jackson has a bit of a problem controlling himself. The problem with that is that he is 33 years old.
Now, Jackson has claimed that Jon Jones (his opponent for this weekend), sent a spy into his camp. It's possible, but at the same time unproven.
Whether it's true or not isn't the point, though.
What is important is how much time Jackson has spent on pointing this out and mentioning it in interviews. He has even mentioned how he feels disrespected by Jon Jones.
Most fighters don't "respect" other fighters before the fight. If it helps them get ready, that's fine. Jackson doesn't see it that way, though, and takes it personally.
Jackson is a great fighter, there is no disputing this. However, he seems to have an issue with handling his emotions and how he controls himself when in front of media.
It might just be an act to get people to tune in. It might be who he really is. Outside of media press coverage, Jackson isn't as vocal so it's hard to be sure.
Still, as much as the actions he has done in the past has drawn pay-per-view buys and viral attention, he needs to let it go.
He is a grown adult, and as much as many MMA fans would like to believe that the sport is respected and understood around the world, it isn't.
In the cage, Jackson helps to remove this. Outside of it, not so much.
It's time for Quinton "Rampage" Jackson to stop throwing tantrums.
It's time for him to grow up.
