WWE Night of Champions Results: The Spotlight Is off of the WWE Championship
The last couple months of Monday Night Raw have been dominated by CM Punk, HHH, Kevin Nash, Johnny Ace, and John Cena. Now throw in The Miz and R-Truth, and this entire feud (yes involving every single guy) is all revolving around one thing...and it's not the WWE Championship—it's controversy.
This whole thing did start because of the WWE Championship when CM Punk won it from John Cena at Money in the Bank, and then there was the rematch at Summerslam, but, since then, the Championship and Alberto Del Rio have been on the back burner.
I've read many articles, and seen many comments from the IWC about the current storyline involving all these guys. I've heard that ever since CM Punk's promo shoot, it has been going downhill, that he came back entirely too soon after he "walked out" at MITB, that Kevin Nash's involvement is slowly adding more confusion every week, that Nash is boring, and so on and so on.

Sure, I'll agree that it is going downhill ever since the promo that CM Punk cut that rocked the world, but is that bad?
That promo may have been the greatest promo ever in the history of Monday Night Raw, it literally shocked the foundation of the wrestling world, trust me, it had to go downhill after that. But that's not a bad thing, this storyline still has all the potential in the world, and here's why.
The main even at NOC blew up into an all out brawl and complete mayhem, but I personally thought it was great because it brought more players into the game. The Miz and Truth have been complaining from afar, but now they are off the bench and in the game, and when is the last time a storyline has involved so many superstars?
Secondly, and more importantly, Monday night Raw is no longer dominated by the WWE Championship. Some will say that that's bad because the titles have lost the prestige as is, but trust me, it's a good thing. Look at the Attitude era. There was one main championship, and the rest of the top star players needed personal storylines.
Looking at the storyline leading to the 6-man Hell in a Cell in 2000, the feuds at the previous pay-per-views were Rikishi vs Austin, Austin vs HHH, Rock vs Rikishi. None of those involved the WWE Championship.
The WWE needs to continue to build up this feud because it hasn't involved the WWE Championship. It hasn't been about gold. It's been about finding the truth.
Now with Cena the champion, and Punk in the main event with Del Rio at HITC, the WWE Championship is in the storyline, and that's OK at this point. The foundation has been laid, the players have been introduced, and now the title comes into the picture.
And, in my opinion, this feud is taking off fantastically.
There are ups and downs, but there have been ups and downs in every feud ever. It only matters how this one will end, but I'm hoping it doesn't end for some time.
With these guys introduced, and more to follow, I'm sure (Kings Of Wrestling) Survivor Series' 5-on-5 could be a show to remember this November, because there is one more guy to get involved in this story line...The People's champ.
So the main point is that we all need to relax and enjoy the ride, because, if something goes wrong in the storyline, remember that it could always be worse and that we are witnessing the best storyline in the last five years.
