Packers vs. Panthers: How Impressive Is Cam Newton's Game vs. Defending Champs?
Rookie quarterbacks are supposed to struggle. Even if they are blessed with talent, the NFL game is a whole other animal compared to anything they have seen in college. Going from a relatively simple college playbook to learning a complex professional playbook is an extremely difficult transition.
Apparently, Cam Newton never got that memo.
It's one thing to have a big day against a Cardinal defense that is starting two rookie corners and has little pass rush to speak of. It's another to take on the world champions and score on the opening drive.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
What is most impressive to me about Newton's performance so far is how he keeps his eyes downfield while he is escaping the pocket. This is a unique attribute for dual-threat quarterbacks, especially for someone as young as Newton. He is comfortable, confident and is not afraid to make plays down the field.
He wasn't without fault in the first half, however, as he did throw a pick to Charles Woodson, forcing the ball into double coverage. But Newton responded and kept the offense moving once he got back onto the field. He has also been running and taking a lot of hits, but that is not uncommon for a young quarterback—especially one who is as good of a runner as Cam.
So far, the Panthers have to be thrilled with their prized draft pick. He is poised and confident, but most importantly, he is delivering the ball with accuracy.
Win or lose, the decision-makers in Carolina can go to bed knowing that their quarterback situation appears to have been solved for the foreseeable future.
