Navy vs. South Carolina: TV Schedule, Live Streaming, Radio, Game Time and More
The Navy Midshipmen are docking in Columbia to engage in battle with the South Carolina Gamecocks this Saturday night.
In a nationally televised game, the Midshipmen will bring their top ranked rushing attack nose to nose with the speedy SEC offense of Marcus Lattimore and co.
Both teams’ defense is a little suspect, so I expect this to be a barn-burner. Read on to learn more about this non-conference game between two unfamiliar teams.

Navy Injury Report:
RB Aaron Santiago – OUT (Arm) – Santiago broke his arm in two places against WKU, he will miss most of the season.
LB Jarred Shannon – PROB (Shoulder) – Sat out Week 2 but upgraded to probable against South Carolina.
LB Mason Graham – QST (Knee) – Suffered a knee injury during Week 2, may be replaced by Brye French.
South Carolina Injury Report:
DB Victor Hampton – DBT (Suspended) – Has yet to see game action for his June suspension that is now up. May see first action against Navy but most likely not.
OT Cody Gibson – QST (Knee) – Has not played since spraining his knee this offseason. If healthy, could play a backup role.
DB Martay Mattox – PRB (Suspended) – Was active after coming off a suspension last week. Did not play but could see first action against Navy.
BCS/Top 25 Poll Implications:
If South Carolina can win in impressive fashion, it will help their standings in the Top 25 polls. They are currently hovering just on the Top 10 bubble and will need a solid performance to boost themselves in.
Navy is hoping to play BCS buster and get a huge upset victory over the Gamecocks.
What They’re Saying:
Chris Low of ESPN.com is reporting that Steve Spurrier is unhappy with his teams’ defense and is saying they aren’t playing like the No. 10 team in the country.
"“We have a lot of coaching to do around here, or we’re going to fall back into a very, very average team,” said Spurrier, whose Gamecocks face Navy at home on Saturday. “This game this week is very important to see if we can play with some fire and energy and tackle. We haven’t tackled well, we need to see if we can just look like a good team.”
"
All the fans in Columbia are hoping this motivates his players to man up and earn a BCS Bowl berth this season.
The L.A. Times has some interesting facts about the Navy Midshipmen football program. They noted that,
"“Ken Niumatalolo became the fastest coach to 29 victories for the Midshipmen, surpassing Paul Johnson's record of 28 wins in his first four seasons. Navy is now 24-2 when scoring first during Niumatalolo's tenure.”
"
The Gamecocks had better look out if Navy puts points on the board early.
Navy Player to Watch: Kriss Proctor
The Navy “quarterback” is the leading rusher on the team with 38 attempts for 199 yards and three TDs. He has only attempted 14 passes in his first two games for seven completions and three TDs.
You have to be very careful when defending Proctor as they run a triple option but always have the ability to pass. He could be the reason why Navy pulls off a major upset.
South Carolina Player to Watch: Marcus Lattimore
This Heisman hopeful has looked like an absolute beast in the first two Gamecock matchups.
He has 50 attempts for 288 yards and four TDs on the season already and is looking to continue to carry the offense.
The Gamecocks would be completely lost without him and they need him to step up and have a big day on Saturday.
Key Matchup: South Carolina Defense vs. Navy Rushing Attack
Navy is the No. 1 rushing attack in the country and the South Carolina defense will need to figure out how to stop it.
If they cannot force Proctor into throwing, they will have a rough day ahead of them.
Prediction: South Carolina 35, Navy 31.
